I'm not going to sit here and take this crap...
For starters, America is about freedom. So
WOW, some amateur managed to find a few morons to poll about easy questions... the only thing proven here is that some Anti-American, left-leaning, erm, person has passed political science 101 and has managed to produce a sub-par propaganda video.
Seems to me that we don't have a problem with morons so much as we have a problem with diplomacy. If we are so friggin bad, then why do our borders POUR over with multitudes of people trying to sneak in? If we are so bad, then why haven't we just leveled Iraq and TAKEN the oil? The bottom line is that we are currently the world power, and have-nots everywhere want to take us down whether we pick a fight with them or not. We are too busy defending ourselves to worry about making our case well.
Is it just me, or does most of the rest of the world rely upon us to do the dirtywork? In particular, Europeans seem to mistake cowardice with the noble practice of pursuing peace. Case in point, how often have we heard other Western countries pout about our preemptive war? "It's illegal, it's for oil, there are no WMD's... (blah blah blah)." I suppose that the sarin that Saddam dropped on the Kurds in 1992-3 was not a chemical weapon?
And like I just pointed out, why didn't we just TAKE the oil? The reason we don't do these things is because we intervene in world affairs to make the world a safer place for us. Those who do not support us benefit all the same.
Listen, I don't hate Europeans, or anyone for that matter, I really don't. I wish you the best, I wish that we could all be happy and free and leave each other alone, but that just isn't the world we live in. So long as there are violent psychopaths willing to strap bombs onto themselves and blow up schoolchildren, we are going to keep shooting. Hey, I don't love Bush, he spends money like there is no tommorrow, and he has done nothing to secure our borders, but I will continue to vote for leaders that pursue the war on terrorism, even if I may have to hold my nose a bit to do so.
David:
Protesters are better people than you or I, they stand up for what they believe.
(Not including rioters)
Be glad that you live in a country that ALLOWS protest. The president of Iran, just yesterday, urged that Iranian Universities be purged of "progressive professors". Protest all you want, but protest in a free country is not "brave"... staging a protest in Iran, now
THAT takes balls.
I was hoping my first post in your forum would be about Tremulous, but when I saw this thread, my blood boiled over... Perhaps you guys should consider a no-politics rule like fedoraforum.org has...
