Ok, I've decided to be a whining baby and complain about a player. This guy, [COM] Yarou is somehow an admin on [SST] Hellfire. I've watched this guy in several games (even on other servers) deconning humans in a malicious way. He does this when there are too many aliens on the alien team so he can't get on the alien team like he wants. He first pleads for somebody on alien to switch to human. When that doesnt work he starts threatening. Then when that doesnt work, he joins humans, deconns them, and laughs at everyone.

Just recently I was on [SST] Hellfire playing a nice game, and he joins in and starts telling a human player to stop "Lucy Spamming". My response was, he is not lucy spamming, he is firing a lucy down a hallway at us in intervals to keeps us out of their base, he is not hurting his teamates. Basically it boils down to your definition of what lucy spamming was. I was sticking up for the human (and I was alien team) for his firing a lucy down a hallway entrance to their base. So Yarou then tells me to "STFU" literally, and so I told him go ahead and kick me you lamer, I've seen you deconn and ruin several games I've been in. So he kicks me. My only concern is how does this nut get to be an admin on [SST] ? Does [SST] want this person running around representing an admin on their server ?

ive seen him do it many times.

easiest way to deal with it, dont play on SST.

there are much better servers out there.

So what is the correct definition of lucy spamming ? I see it as perfectly fine that a human player can shoot a lucy down a hallway at intervals of time to keep aliens out, whats wrong with that ? I thought lucy spamming was when they are not carefull about aim and hurt humans, inside of the base for example. I play mostly alien, and would prefer humans a little tougher sometimes, to be honest.

The deconning is definitely a problem, although I must admit I haven't been playing much Tremulous lately and haven't seen him do it yet.

I would say that is lucy spamming.

Ive seen a few ass-hole admin's on SST many times.

Another admin blatenly kicks someone for doing a vote to restart map after one human noob builder messed up the buildings early game.  Normally the admin would just do an !allvoteno command, but since he "forgot" (or somthing like that) to do it for this vote, he kicked the player that did it seeing as everyone voted yes.

On one game the same admin made his team have 2000 BP.  funny, but completely lame at the same time.

Admins should never use vote rigging powers like that.
Only if noobs are kicking someone for no reason, or they call the same vote over and over.

Power corrupts. Especially when new admins get high level commands. Generally these bad admins are new people who were ill chosen for the job at hand. All regular admins need to keep players in check is mute, kick, cancelvote and maybe a temporary ban. Anything more edges more towards server owners then server administrators. Bans could just as well be requested to the server owner when things really get out of hand.

I was dumped in with insane power. As were all MG people. none of us are power crazed freaks.

If you know what "spray 'n' pray" means, and you've seen a lucifer cannon used for that, that's probably lucispam. I think that the reason it's not allowed on SST is that with 52 players, the game can get really laggy with any kind of spamming (but more so with lcannon because of its cool graphics). And at some point you just want to ban these spammers for giving you a headache...

About vote rigging, the reason that map votes are not allowed is that they currently screw up some settings (such as build points), and I can imagine people used to building 260 bp bases wasting a default 100 (110?) really quickly. Usually before people are kicked they are warned not to call votes for maps (usually repeatedly). Eventually, people start getting kicked.

heh I remember that guy. Was aliens with him the other day on SST playing mara I was healing at booster, he comes along with basi slashes me a few times and runs off. Comes back a second later, gets poison, poisons me and tries to run off again at which point I had enough. I give chase and remove a dangerous evolution from a lamer by TKing his ass.

So what does he do? Starts a vote kick.

As I'm explaining I was merely defending myself from someone who wanted to pick a fight with a teammate....a second player, Jesus, comes along with a dragoon and starts chomping me. Again since I'm not one to be TKed by those that deliberately try it I kick his ass too. Vote kick passes and I wait out my 30 min ban.

I come back and start playing again, don't go after either one of them. YArou starts another votekick on account of me kicking his ass instead of allowing him to wail on me 30 mins prior. Another 30 min ban.

So why post this here not on SST? Just to get a public word out about these individuals. BEsides paradox often looks in around here too ;)

beerbitch, honestly, stfu.
when you dont know server rules about lucy spam, ask someone, i know yarou and he wouldnt do this, Lucy spam for |SST| is rapid 2 second shots or holding down secondary fire, lucy spam is a 30 min kick/ban. if you couldnt read that on the MOTD, go on another server

1) I didn't know SST has a message board to complain on.
2) I don't think it was lucy spam since there were only like 16 people on the server at the time and the human was shooting down a hallway where THERE WERE NO OTHER HUMANS.

3) I'm the Beerbitch, of course I'm going to worthlessly bitch about stuff. Take it or leave it.

Does it sound reasonable at all that a server with 52 slots would expect people to ask every question they can think of, like "can I user the right mouse button for this weapon?"  I somehow don't think this is the case, though I could obviously be wrong.  No spamming, acceptable, but I don't see how in a large group it could be effectively applied by a large number of admins.

That strikes me as silly though, to not be able to use a weapon the way it's designed.

This may not be wise, in that it could exlude exactly the people that will give you bad news about your server, the disillusioned that will not return.  Additionaly, you ARE part of the tremulous community, and this IS the nexus of that community.

So I'll end this with my wish list, a starter screen for each map that, like pulse, shows text, but instead of latin, let it be configurable by the admin to pass info, rules and things of that nature.

Best bet is probably to just stay away from those servers. I think it would be a lot better if there were ten 16 player servers instead of three 40+ players ones with fucked up settings. Hell, it might even be balanced!

That is crap and shows that you never really played on multi-admin servers.

The fact is, that no one really cares about this kind of BS here.

If there were a weapon designed for spamming, it would have a high rate of fire, soothing sounds (not like the lcannon), do no damage, and have unlimited damage.
They are designed for killing things, not for aimless spamming.

Looks like Yarou lost his admin priviledges. Somebody mentioned him on the SST forums. This is a non-issue now.
