Glunnator

Is there any way at all for Mac users to make maps for trem?

At all?

WITHOUT using a PC?

Hope to hear positivity

So you have a mac, and you want to make trem maps, with absolutely no pea-see involvment at all?

IIRC GtkRadiant has been ported to the mac so you might have a chance there. Try here: http://www.redsaurus.net/gtkradiant/

I'm unsure about the availability of the various compile tools, etc. on the mac though...

Glunnator

Gracias!
Thank you for your help, I'll go try it!
I'll post again about if it works or not
EDIT: i'll have to wait on the post... the boards are down..      :(

DASPRiD

Maybe the Linux-Version of Q3Map2 does work, coz OS/X also based on Unix. Or a functional version is delivered with GTKRadiant.

Glunnator

That might work... and where would i find it?  :P

Quote from: DASPRiDOr install Linux on your mac, thats possible, too. Dual-Boot allowed.
I know dual-boot is allowed! I been booting in between os 9 and os X for years now xD

But no, really, where could i find it?

Glunnator

Sry for double post, but i really don't want this topic to be forgotten. I want to make trem maps! :( If i don't double post it won't recognise it as a new post meaning no reminder.  :-?
Plz don't hate me for this  :barricade: :( :barricade:  :barricade:

find a virtual machine for mac (qemu ?) then install linux to it
possibly the worst solution :P

I tried to follow the link. It worked, but the forum it's in is down. I tried a day after so I wouldn't post unnecessarily, and it still doesn't. Are there any other places I can get it? I did a google search, but the links took me to the same page.

Also, I found these:http://www.netwolf.free.fr/mac-qvmtools/
Could they help any Mac users who would be taking notice of this forum? I don't know how to use them as I don't have that kind of knowledge, but you guys might.

If that's all you can think of, I already have a solution: Virtual PC. :P
But thats the whole reason why this topic was made in the first place. to do MAC MAPPING and not PC MAPPING ON A MAC  :P

THANK YOU FIREBIRD!

Me going to suck at mapping! :)
Here we go!
*zoomz off*

EDIT: Hm... dousn't seem to work.
I don't think it recognises Tremulous.... What game was trem based on again?

Catalyc

It won't recognize tremulous right away, since none of us has a mac we couldn't come up with a guide for Radiant/trem on the trem mapping wiki, but what you need to do should be relatively similiar to what is explained in the radiant 1.5 windows guide.

Notice the enginepath_macos and engine_macos on the .game file ;)

PwNz!

i tried making gtk work for my mac..-.-...failed miserably... i did everything that that thing said...i had to search around in hidden files before i found where the .game goes...but after all that...nothin -.- :(

i have a mac  to, maybe we can help each other on maps lol probably not, but if you do i will help or you can help me with my holmand forest map pmif you can

doomagent13

basicly you follow the windows gtkradiant 1.5 instalation (ive only got it working for 1.5)

make sure you edit the correct path in the trem.game file
enginepath_win32="c:/Program Files/Tremulous/" -this doesnt matter
 enginepath_linux="/usr/local/games/tremulous/" -neither does this
enginepath_macos="" -insert path to folder containing tremulous.app here in quotation marks

dont put in my comments

right- or control- click on the gtkradiant15 app  and choose "show package contents"

go contents -> resources -> sw -> radiant15  --this is where the trem.game FOLDER goes, as well as the games folder with the trem.game FILE inside

as far as i remember, everything else is exactly the same

oh, i dont know if it compiles maps correctly though, just thought id let you know

all the necesary files can be gotten here

Mango

Hmmm... I might try this with Jedi Knight II, which I already have. It's already got stuff for doing it, so it might be easier to start with.

If anyone else has it, there are some good tutorials here: http://www.massassi.net/tutorials.php

I'll try putting the Trem stuff in later, when I know how to model. It just seems a bit much. It's a complex program by itself!

PwNz!

NIIICE..i got it to work also!!!!!! this is so cool...and now i shall continue my space conflict map xD

i think this thread should be stickied

could an admin make this sticky?

anyway, i hope it works for all you people yet to report success or failure

if anyone can edit http://tremmapping.pbwiki.com/, they should see about adding the setup for macs
