Here's my first attempt at a Tremulous map. It is fairly small, in the shape of a loop. Sort of like ATCS.

I'm using as few textures as possible, mostly from the Tremor set

Screenshots:

Human base (Please ignore the spot where I emptied my clip into the light fixture out of anger)


Alien base (Yes I know it is dark, I am going to add a small light to the lower right area, and fix the 'floating' light above the Overmind)

Cool looking hallway that I spent an hour getting the textures aligned on the slope:


Anyone who has played through Halo 2 will probably recognize the door up ahead...it isn't quite as fancy but it still looks awsome.

I have no idea how to use shaders or anything so I did the best I could without them...I think it looks fairly good for my first map.


(Oh, and I am not going to name this map "Tremor 2")

Comments? I haven't finished the loop yet but once I do I will release a beta.

ah man, I was thinking of tremor 2! Or THE 2nD TREMOR!

you could name is THE DARKNESS because it's pretty dark...

or A DARK SMALL MAP lol... joking...

or THE DARKZONE

or A MAP THAT IS ALMOST LIKE ATCS BUT TEXTURE LIKE TREMOR

but enough of "dark," think of somethign that relates to the places

did you say boxes? Cause then you could say THE CARGO BAY... sounds lame...

I don't know... but maybe you could choose some in there

If you're going to try a space station level then how about something like Midway Station.

It looks like some kind of asteroid station, maybe you could pick an asteroid name. Ceres, Metis, Themis?

I had  a quick look and I am quite certain it is a small asteroid.

Okay, so the project nickname is Tremor 2, but that won't be the official name for it.

I know, how about Lambda station? (Half-Life player)
or Epsilon. Gamma station! Cargobay 4!

Oh wait, I got it!

"Tiberius station"  (duke nukem/star trek fan)...drat, I already released a duke3d level called that.

For now, I just called it "supersimple" (Yes I know the name is stupid, I'll pick a better one later)

Okay, lets get one thing straight here, smokey. If you are going to post anything, post something positive or CONSTRUCTIVE. You spam my threads enough over at DPBall. What, because the server is down you need somewhere else to bother people? Shut up about my maps. I don't automatically say anything you do is stupid or pointless. So why should you do it to me?

God, why doesn't phpBB2 have an ignore list?

Now, I finally got the base layout complete. There are four whole rooms in the map (small map)

The human base, the cargobay, the alien base, and the pump room (I went insane with patch meshes here...)

All connected with those fancy hallways. Aliens are going to love the pump room, because of all the shadowy areas between pipes, on the roof, etc. Humans will probably avoid that area.

I haven't put in any sounds or anything yet. Each base has the overmind/reactor and two spawn points, nothing fancy.

If anyone is curious about these doors, I'm going to release a prefab map with the doors/triggers set up. With Radiant 1.5 you can just import the map and it automatically increases the number in the target and targetname values, so you usually just have to position it (and maybe edit the frame)

I wanted the lighting to be very dark. Because humans are going to have an advantage anyways - many straight corridors and it is a small map. So why can't they stumble around half-blind? :) If it is really a problem, I'll make them a bit brighter.

Here's my first beta version of the map. I probably won't be able to play the map much (Dialup sucks) but you guys can for awhile. Barely any detail besides the Pumproom yet.

I know about the bug above the middle humanbase-pumproom door, and the bug with structures in the main door trigger fields.

To solve the second one, I made simpler doors directly off the bases.

Exercise in futility. We don't need these kind of maps. There is absolutely no tactics involved, skill is out of the window in every area, an early rush can kill it easily while if some god incompetent team doesn't manage to kill the opponent in the first few minutes it will result in a campfest. Think about gameplay before anything else.

...Which is exactly why I've decide this map is way too small.

So, i'm adding an entire second floor. And airducts. And more little corridors. You get the idea.

Don't post like what, the big long one?

Damn, I think I'm going to have to take my fancy doors out, if you build a structure anywhere near them they go totally beserk. Basically, one team could block all the entrances to their base.

tell me, is this staircase too drab? (I'm aware of the missing step and I haven't built the undersides yet)

Oh, and you guys may be pleased to know I'm compiling with -gamma 1.5 and -compensate 2, so it is bright enough to see in if you insist on having your gamma down low. Still lots of places to hide for the aliens, though.

Edit: made a door that doesn't mind structures being close by.
