The playstation 3 came out, and I've been waiting till anything was out before I pass any real judgement (not that I have any money to buy any nexgen console) Its turns out that this article - New York Times on the Playstation 3- points out how it will fair in the nexgen war.

It doesn't even come with the cables for a high definition tv, unlike the 360, has to synch up each wireless controller with a wire, and has various other non-user-friendly features. It seems to be nothing more than a computer that is extremely difficult to use, especially online.

I like the idea of the Wii, the actually movement is the playing, its a feature the gamers have been waiting for since duckhunt, but I have to admit that I would prefer the 360, as I find that I like very little of what Nintendo has to offer in terms of games and style, and I am sick of diehard Nintendo fanboys who yell at me for suggesting that Halo could be fun. (And it has happened.)

As if Halo ever was the fun it would have been if M$ didn't steal it away from the PC crowd.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 add very little to the gaming world besides better GFX and controllers with even more buttons. Both are still heavily seated in what Nintendo started with the release of the Famicon/NES, while Nintendo itself has moved far beyond that, and in 10 years we will all laugh about the 360 and the PS3 with their uncontrollable controllers and endless blind focusing on GFX that will be outdated within a year after their release.

Yes.. like the wii all consoles will begin to launch with outdated graphics instead of waiting for them to expire years down the road.
And we shall marvel at how stripped of functionality things get when you loose all of your buttons and instead hinge it all on a buggy novelty gimmick that will be used in only so many ways over and over again and force developers to copy each other or create novelty games.. which is what you wanted anyway since your not really pushing the edges of the graphics or sound realm.. YOUR SYSTEM CAN'T EVEN PLAY CDS!

First off, the Wii doesn't have to play CD's, I have a Personal Computer for all my multimedia tasks.
Secondly, why spend all that money on a machine that plays games that look better on your PC, and are controlled better too, with free internet acces.
Thirdly, this is not a gimmick, this is the way games will be controlled from now on, just like Nintendo defined the controller currently used by MickeySoft and Sony.
Fourth, Since we all know how the PS3 and Xbox 360 play, namely the same as a NES, only with vastly improved GFX and a lot more buttons you can barely reach, how come you already put down the Wiimote, while you obviously have never touched one?
Of course the first release will be gimmicky games, that will be unavoidable, people need to get used to the Wiimote, and it would be pretty dumb to indulge them into Wiimote for Pro's with hard to control games, but such games will arrive, firstly in the form of  Metroid Prime, the game that will show you how FPS is done with the Wiimote. Just wait, see, and admit you were wrong.

[EDIT] How dare you say that Nintendo consoles do not create novelty games? Nintendo is personally resonsible just about any innovation on the console market, besides the integration of internet, which comes on MickeySoft's conto. So please stop your lies.

Nintedo makes great games.. in fact most of the time their games are the only good games for their system.. that was what i meant.. i'm STILL waiting for a DS game that grabs my attention..
The wiimote is a neat idea.. but i think all in all its just not going to result in a large array of innovative playable games. There is just still a lot more you can do will all of those buttons than you can with a wiimote.. I'd rather use an NES light gun nunchuck for metroid :/ THAT would be awesome.

also.. rumors are in that they might be letting you play CDs&DVDs soon, and possibly even putting a HD drive in the system or having an add on later on.. so thats sort of nice..  (its not that i NEED it to play CDs or DVDs.. its the thought that counts  )

I'm not buying any of them right now.. there are bugs and they will work them out.. and in a year or so we'll see who is doing their job right and who fundamentally modifies their system. I'm betting none of these systems are really COMPLETE yet.

You mean, you dont think it would be fun not only playing games like "onimusha" with a controler but indeed controling the SWORD the char holds?

Sounds like fun to me...

PIE, you blame Nintendo games for only being good on their own system, might I make up from those words that you are a supporter of porting a game to every concievable system, ultimately resulting in every console having the same games?
Again, most people don't buy a console to play ACD/DVD/CDROM/CDI or whatever crap, they buy it to play games.
I'll say it again, the Wiimote is not a gimmick, not for me, not for Nintendo and certainly not for all the people who have no bought a PS3 or Xbox360 due to the fact that most games on those systems are unplayable for anyone who doesn't have a lot of experience with computer games, since they require a ridiculous amount of buttons to even be remotely playable.
And as a last note, the best thing about consoles is the fact that you can have harmless fun in front of your TV, with everybody you want and lots of booze. I cannot wait to play the Wii with people who never cared for other consoles. The possibilities seems endless, now for the games.

...Porting? I don't understand really how you got that from that. I was saying nintendo makes great games... but their systems lack good games that were not made by nintendo. Not that they needed to port them or anything.

I played wii sports today at a friends house and it was interesting indeed. The wiimote lies to make it where i don't get strikes in bowling...which is an obvious flaw.
Not to mention he told me about a whole bunch of wii games that were coming out that sounded mighty cool.. I might have to pick me up a wii sometime if those games actually pan out..

Blame that on developers trying to port their mediocre games from other consoles to a Nintendo console.

****ing Pc I just wanted to edit my post then boom i must logging for the 2.time for zero and nothing... anyway this is what i wanted to post,

Wii would cost 249euro + Wii-remote 39euro + nuschuk-remote 19euro + Nintendo Wii game 39euro = ca.290euro

Ps3 would cost: 20GB! model 499euro + controler 39 euro + Ps3 game 49euro = ca.600 euro

Xbox360 now 1 year on market: Xbox360 399euro + controler 39euro + Xbox360 game 39-49euro = ca.500euro

Now my question is "what would u buy now"?

I'll buy maybe a Nintendo Wii graphic is not now my theme i can play enough HD games on my Pc  :)

I got a 360 rather unexpectedly for my birthday.. I so far really like it except the for the fact I feel like a traitor since i just had the PS1/PS2 for a long time now... But.. i wouldn't be too eager to really jump out and get the other two right now.. they still have a lot of bugs to work out it would seem.

PS3 will run sony into the ground. They need to drop blu-ray.. they are so obsessed with proprietary formats though..   With all the trouble they have, and the money they are going to loose on each console.. this would be the thing that kills them.
Development costs are going to be rediculous.. games are going to start getting very similar... except for.. the Wii
The wii will sell a ton initially.. but unless nintendo can get their heads out of their asses and stop making kiddie consoles, or gimmick consoles with novelty puzzle games (the DS) its not going to get any support and will just allow them to squeek by until the next generation.. like last time...
The wii is a great console with the right idea.. hopefully the massive costs and idiocy of sony, the up until now leader will drive some developers to nintendo... and they will stop being so narrow minded and get some violent GTA kinds of games on there to break their stupid kiddie pokemon image.

(Another note... anyone noticed the $60 games? THAT is the thing that keeps me from buying ANY of them.. i have a computer where games are still $49-39 (or even free like tremulous) most of the time and where the price drops pretty quickly.. they don't impose liscenses on computer games because noone has to recouperate console costs.. so the prices will stay reasonable.. so thats where i'm staying for now.)

the wii is actually really fun, even some of the kiddie games. Try playing rayman with a straight face, or look me in the eyes and tell me it wasn't fun. Plus, ONLINE SSBM! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!

yeah I guess you are right, all those games are da freaking awesome. :)
But I like PC better. You can still have FEAR and maybe other games you mentioned in there too (including Half-Life but I'm not getting that)
Personally, I LOVE RTS game, but all those consoles can't have that right? And if they do, they'll suck, right?

The Wii connects wirelessly (or wired-ly if necessary, I think) to your network and through that to the internet without you spending a penny extra. So all online gaming services are free, unless the providers or developers do something clever and nasty (what with all the free ones, though, I reckon this will not prove popular, so most will probably stay away from such an arrangement). And, for now, the Opera web browser is a free download. At some point they will start charging for new downloads, but the lucky few who get in now will never have to pay.

Clear? I think my wording is a little opaque, and I haven't bothered to check my facts, but that's my understanding of the matter.
