The chaingun.

Well people I've been reading the forums and I've found that a lot of people have things against the chaingun.


'Being used as a defensive weapon'
'Sitting on turrets with a BS and chaingun'
'Ect'


BTW, What does sitting on a turret got to do with anything?

The enemy base usually isn't in range of the turrets. Thus a teammate that has money for a bs and chaingun might as well and try to damage the alien base. The exception is when the human base is under heavy attack. But sitting still on a turret spells certain death in that situation anyway.

I think its because you can't really use the chaingun on long haul attacks as the full clip runs out in no time and you need to run back. So lots of people don't bother and get pulse rifles.

Chaingun is good if you have people with you can you can save your ammo.
It is good if you are against goons+tyrants and sometimes maras.
Its fine if you shoot those aliens defensively outside of your base while you wait for a team, or are surroundd.. but if your shooting maras that are jumping around your base then it is not a good weapon.

If your an alien.. a BS with a chaingun on a turret is pretty annoying because if your big enough to deal with the turret, you're big enough to get killed quickly by a chaingun.

Chainguns have a wide enough angle to bulletspam an enitre corridor (like those in nexus6 for example) so putting some turrets up at one end and then camping them with a chaingun can create a fairly impenetrable barricade if none of the aliens want to sacrafice themselves.

chianguns and bsuits are great in teams of 2 _maybe_ 3 against tyrants and adv goons. i for one love that weapon but i wouldn't in any situation use it against eggs or acid tubes...that's just stupid.

I don't have anything against the chaingun, but i don't have much for it, either.

Better for taking out hives and tubes than a flamer

However, it's the only 1 or 2 person defence against a good goon in s1

This makes me think of 3/4 of the games I've played on Transit:
Chaingunners camping by their base, just slowing down the game. (Why don't they all just jump over the railings?)

chainguns are so freaking good! I killed maras, tyrants, goons, baslisks, dretches, and grangers with it XP
But sometimes before I have a chance to kill one, I run out of ammo, so I have to run away or die...

The chaingun I find is realatively less effective on dretches.. and smart basies who should know not to bother with a bsuit anyway... but then again i'm sure some dretch will just sit around and let you pepper it with the chaingun.

chaingunner sitting on turrets? thats not the way u do it grab a jetpack and nest atop the armory and constantly shoot just mash
B(buy ammo) before you have to endure the slow reload and huzzuh a nonstop lacing of hot lead for any alien who wants to jump in the base.

Thats camping. with gusto!

oh or just do the same with energy weapons and nest atop the reactor.

someone should make a special sever were aliens dretches can wield chain-guns (2 1 on each side) but in constantly hurts them(like every 2 seconds 1 damage) because it is to heavy for them.. but they jam if you shoot to much.. it would be cool!! and hard for humans..

I would like a defensive structure with more range than a machine-gun turret. Maybe a laser turret?
High range, fairly powerful, but even slower tracking.
That, or defense computer make turrets turn slightly faster.

what there should be for defense is turrets you can mount you armor and weapons on like helmet turns faster a gets prepared and can launch grenades.. Thats it jet pack turns them into flying helpers that follow you.
