You think adding a minor crosshair to the stock HUD is 'cheating' these days?

That's my human HUD. My alien hud looks just about identical, and is that compact. Yes, including the crosshairs. I could just as easilly add the crosshairs as a strip of tape on my screen though, so realistically, what's the point of trying to claim crosshairs are cheating when someone goes through the extra effort to add them to their HUD compared to the 'piece of tape on the screen' approach? Modifying the HUD files takes more effort by far compared to two seconds for a tape crosshair.
The core design of the client-side HUD is meant to allow extensive modification. Tremulous was built around the Quake 3 Team Arena HUD, NOT the stock Quake 3 Arena HUD. The Team Arena HUD is built around the same scripting language Tremulous uses for HUD's, and designed to be extensively modified and re-arranged, if not outright thrown out and built from scratch again for heavier or lighter levels of theme and visual eye-candy.
Seperately, all the HUD menu-files are controlled by a client-side non-cheat-protected CVAR, again indicating the CVAR is meant to be customized, meaning the HUD files are meant to be customized.
