A moderator should lock this thread.  It has a false (and incredibly stupid.  You can't buy a free game.  Doesn't work) title, and, as has been stated, is utterly spammish.

Actually, it's perfectly fine and dandy (according to the GPL) to pay for Tremulous. Yes, you can get it for free from, say, the official website. I think  there may be a problem with the Creative Commons license used on the maps, though.

It would even be legal for the only distributions of Tremulous to cost money as long as the source code is still made available. Maybe it would be disagreeable since compilation costs time and little else.

I think people would be willing to buy a Tremulous CD for a small fee if they thought it would go to the developers.

(Yes, I just attempted to hijack the thread for a legitimate on-topic purpose :P.)

Sure, just go to illeaglepiratedgames.com/tremulous/no-cd.html

The Trem cd's idea sounds good, especially if the game gets larger than it already is. (Offtopic, I love the Firefox 2.0 built in spell check)

You think an official CD would work?

People might buy it to avoid a huge download, but this is becoming less of a problem as more and more people switch to high-speed connections.

Others might see it as a good way to support the project.

Finally, I'm sure theres some FLOSS maniacs out there who'd want a boxed collectors edition to hang on their wall ;)

... curse you for bringing up an interesting point in this crappy spam thread that was just begging for a lock..
I'd buy a tremulous CD for sure even though I have no problem downloading it.. just a nice little thing in a jewel case with a printed manual.. I think its a great idea for people that would like the novelty of it, or people who are just too lazy to download.. which.. you have to be pretty fkin lazy to not download an online game.. but.. I think something like that would probably get a lot better response than a "donate now" button... Hope the devs/timbo can find that idea nested down in this craptastic thread.. :/

"help! I got my tremulous cd but don't have a cd key, can someone help me!?? i need one for free plz thanks."

Thank god tremulous is free. Otherwise these forums would be full of this kind of crap (or however you'd register a copy)

I'd probably wouldn't pay for the cd (I'd much rather just donate) unless it came with something cool. Like, ummm. A cardboard dretch you can cut out into a hat?
