TJW's admin rules
« on: November 27, 2006, 10:11:32 am »
Now I'm not saying all admins are like this, but there are a few power abusive admins. Mabey everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, admins and citizens (ooh I'm likin' that tewm) should red these rules. Then there may be a possibility of an Overlord Admin to keep admins in check.

Anyway, here are the rules:

And no, please don't use !putteam whenever you feel like to put yourself on whatever team you feel like. If you have g_admin flag '5', it means you are trusted to put yourself on the appropriate team (and shouldn't use !putteam for that). If you don't have that flag, don't pretend you do.

I'd like to point out that those rules do NOT apply to any server, except for TJW's.
If other servers decide to abide by them, fine...

@MC who are you exactely that you want those rules on all servers?
And who are you that you try to tell other server-owners how they have to run their's???

I dont agree with the !vote part. Alot of friggin noobs that cant win and think they will lose make a vote real quick so it looks like a draw instead of a Win for counterpart.

Good example;
Humans killed aliens, the only thing that's alive is a dretch. The dretch sees that his team lost and makes a vote so they can skip the level so it will be a draw instead of a lose for them.

Conclusion: END GAME and f*cking !cancelvote! Its not THAT bad to lose (Not to much lol)

Also noobs that DONT friggin read the teammessages that the base will be moved start to make f*cking kicks.

Conclusion:
!cancelvote.

Hm, that gives me an idea... if there are no spawns left on one team and the time limit is hit, consider it a win. (I'll keep this in mind if I want to extract stats from the log program.)

This is why, when I'm active on a server I have !putteam rights on, I'll jump back to Spectator near end-game and wait for one side to end up without spawns, without builders, and without any functional attacking classes. Once that happens, punt, to spectator-team they go. Generally that means Marauders on down, and any human that runs out of ammo.

Why do you do that?
That would cheat the player out of their stats.
I'd be pretty pissed if that happend to me.

You are worse than them you know. Maybe they voted because they consider the game lost and they just do not want to suicide. You on the other hand care so much about seeing the victory screen that you abuse your admin powers.

He does not abuse his powers on AW, never seen him !cancelvote !denybuild or !kick w/o a very good reason, nor have i seen him voting any bullshit.

What stats? This isn't Deathmatch, nor Rocket Arena. Your kill-count also isn't affected on stats-tracking servers running DASPRiD's mod, since that reads the raw kill-log from the server. And if you mean Credits/Evo's, um... when I do the above it ends the map. Their credits and evo's would be reset regardless.

How come a (adv) marauder is a non functional attack class? If anything it besides the adv dragoon is the class to take out critical structures.
And I always say let people finish the game, the hunt is part of it, even the hopeless one. Any team that is able to take down the entire alien team and not the few remaining aliens actually isn't pulling its weight in comparison to what they should be able to do. Give them time, only the best of the best can prolong them indefinately anyway.

I guess it was a mistake to take out the alien team without reaching stage 2. Oh well, next I'll know and camp in my base until we get stage 2 :o

Let me get this straight. Are you saying that stage 1 humans don't deserve to win against an alien team with someone who would rather camp out a tie than go on to the next game? Almost every map has places a dretch can camp where it can't be killed by stage 1 humans.

Irony doesn't work, the mass driver is available for the dretches and basilisks that are hiding, a squad of rifles and\or shotguns can take down marauders and goons, and the tyrant is immobile on the z-axis so easy to track down.
What is your problem, not up to a challenging game?

Edit: and show me the places in the official maps. The beta ones do have these problems a lot admittedly.

Edit 2: I checked and there are only 2 places in the official maps and both of them are in karith. One up near the elevator room and one as a vent in the top of the large hall near alien base.

To tell you the truth, i think TJW's is the best server, in the aspects of playing and admins. Not many new players there and he has a good set of rules laid down, and hardly anyone abuses.

Actually, you can use the broken elevator in Karith to get up to the vents, I can do it solo as any class, Human and Alien alike.

If you mean the vent by the elevator room, that's an easy one.
But this is the vent I mean, and there is no way a s1 human can enter it.

And the other location is this ledge.

As far as I know there are no other places in the official maps where you can hide without fear from s1 humans.

That ledge is last resort Mass-Drivable if you build a tower, either using turret, armory, reactor, or some human ladder teamwork.

Know all about playertowers and they're not really viable for a human team after a dretch there.
They build it half up dretch goes, they jump down hunt after it, it goes back up again, rinse repeat. Indeed the best would be a structure player combination.
But we are talking public games here. And more and more i'm seeing them trying to vote nextmap when the game isn't even over yet. Just today there were two nextmap votes against a single granger after which the aliens came back and won. What hope of cooperation and patience for a tower do such people have?

Ah, you forgot one last vent in Karith that you need a jetpack to reach as a human :D

Imagine how long a dretch could hide there if most of you don't even know about it.

The vent near the alien base can be reached by jumping on the railing of the stairs, jumping to the pipe, moving along the wall and crawling in the vent. I know about it and it's able to be accessed by s1 humans.

I'll second that, it is really not your business to tell admins how to operate their servers and which rules to follow. If you want your own rules get your own server or find a server that play's by ones you can accept. Remember it is not your server and thus you have no say or rights beyond those that the admins give you.

Overlord admin? eh? Unless this overlord of yours owns every single tremulous server he has as little say in the management of servers as you do.... The only thing you can do if you find you are being treated unfairly by an admin is to take it up with the server owner (or top admin) or find another server.
