but windows sucks; it has major security problems. and try to remove support for free software that can be used instead of their crap

Vista is gonna bomb except for those who have no choice. Also the new wave of Vista Only games like Halo 2 will suffer because of it.

Its the same downside to getting a console, do you pay a couple of hundred pounds just to play 1 game?

Is that ad for real? Not only did they use wholly uninteresting music (that music isn't going to get the average television watcher to be interested in reading what's on the screen), but they used boring, unattractive actors and sent no message with the commercial. Most people do not read an entire commercial before having a clue what the ad is for; they either leave the room or change channels.

The coloring makes me think they are trying to copy Apple's iPod ad campaign. However, Apple was selling a music related product. What in that commercial was even slightly related to Vista? There was only one computer and it was on the screen for all of 5 seconds. The commercial makes me think of a fast food place advertising itself with a bunch of airplanes. Why? Ask Microsoft.

Windows vista is a piece of shit, and i am amazed that it comes from the same company as the xbox. It has a sub par theme, sure it looks cool at first, but open 3 documents and stack them, and see how muddy your window looks then. It uses WAY too much transparency, and in essence, could just be a service pack for XP. There is no new file system, the search doesnt do as well as Spotlight, or even google desktop.

Frankly, if you want the features of vista today, buy a mac and 10.4. If you want a truly next gen operating system, wait till may and buy a mac with os 10.5.
