It's free to play.

You just can't host.

Which FPS games would be suitable for playing with one mouse button?  There's some of the new iMacs set up in the Student Union, and the mice absolutely suck.  There's technically 4 buttons on their mice, but for all practical purposes, they might as well be just one.

Enemy Territory could work with one mouse button.  What else should I look into?

Not quite.

It will be free to play, but you will be able to use real money to buy items in game, and will probably have to if you expect to be able to compete.

Most sane people use the terms f2p and p2p for free to play and pay to play. I've also always called the final version, get this, the final version; not gold.
will sort out my sig, or I will get banned.

HOW DO I SORTED SIG?

Gold just means its at a releasable state, not the final version.

No game ever has a final completely working version.

My brother went through a lot of these games. Silkroad was one of the better done Free2Play games, but very repetitive until you get to the higher levels and stereotypical.

Space Cowboy Online I would call the best Free2Play game out there as it had decent graphics and surprisingly great gameplay. You can substitute your own songs into the background music cycle and the enemies actually can pose a threat. This was the game he stuck with playing before he finally recieved World of Warcraft. The animations are robotic looking.

There are also Freemium games, where F2P can do anything they want, but P2P have an easier time at it.

thats a pretty useless term considering that all games that have f2p and p2p make p2p have an easier time doing things....otherwise you wouldnt want to pay for it.

Sauerbraten and Nexuiz: any good?

Has anyone tried Sauerbraten or Nexuiz? Would you recommend them? What did you like or dislike about them? How about any of the Marathon games? Has anybody played any of them? Same questions - any good/likes/dislikes, etc.

I tried Sauerbrauten.

There were no other players ever, and my framerate wasn't terribly good.

Nexuiz is pretty cool, but only if you live on the East Coast (of the US) or in Europe.  Otherwise, you will have horrendous problems with lag.

It's fast paced old school action with an emphasis on free for all deathmatch, although CTF is becoming rather popular.

It also has all sorts of fancy pants effects like bloom and dynamic everything.

However, chances are those effects will simply murder your framerate.  I have to turn everything off to make it playable, and then it still suffers on some maps.

At any rate, it's worth a download.  The Nexuiz community is super cool too.

Sauerbraten has some intense stuff that you might want to disable to get good FPS. As long as you have the latest version you can get onto the active servers if there's room, there's usually like 5 that are full, 2 of them are private but if they see you on another server they'll give you the pass to join them. And then there's always a LOT of empty servers that lag, and a couple with like 2 or 3 people just working together on making new maps.

The private servers have clan matches once in a while, try to get in on watching one, they're intense.

Ok xDuke's graphics suck. CodeRED's graphics don't suck but the game sucks.

I have played savage. its a mix of RTS/FPS/TPS. If you have a crappy internet connection and a crappy pc forget it. Youwon't be able to play it.

Try PlaneShift (www.planeshift.it) which is 3d. It is similair to World of Warcraft but its Open Source.

If you liek 2d games you can try out Endless Online, or Littlfe Fighter 2(<- not online altough there's a 3D version of it called LIttle Fighter Online which is online but not 100% free)

There are lots of free gmaes such as GunZ,Rakion,Silkroad Online, rappelz, Knight Online, Maple Story, Survival Project, Open Arena,FlyFF,realmWars etc etc..

Xduke is a port, not a shareware game. Shareware isn't freeware, nor is it Free Software.

You do realize Duke3D is a 1996 game, right
