This has something to do with Tremulous?
A moderator needs to move this to off-topic.

So, that explains why I got slightly more FPS than you with equivalent hardware :D
urphy's rules of combat
8 ) Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.
18 ) Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.

Mikiupdown2

I'm gonna change OS this year. I'm probably going to start using either Debian or Ubuntu. Havnt decided which (yet).

Yap, I use Linux... Just like OS-X, Windows, OS/2 and even DOS.
Use the tool that is best suited for the work at hand.

Lobster

I dualboot (for wireless Internet on my Toshiba P100 SD8 to work) with  :dretch:  Windows MCE 2005 and  :tyrant:  Ubuntu 6.10 (XGL/Compiz). I have Tremulous installed in both.

P.S. If you have a Toshiba P100 SD8 with Ubuntu 6.10 and have wireless working, suggestions would be really appreciated. All my attempts have failed and this laptop was not Linux friendly to configure. I have tried the Synaptic repository stuff for Toshibas.

edit: Ubuntu 7.04 fixed this.

Ingar

I've been doing linux for 10+ years now and I've tried about
every mainstream distro you can think of.

These days I run Linux from Scratch,
a lot of work but definitely worth the effort

Ryker

does tremulous run any faster under linux than windows?

Basilisco

I've been trying to get away from windows to my favorite OS.

The only thing stopping me is that there isn't a port of trem for it...

There is Q3 for Amiga OS ( http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22014&forum=9&5 ), so maby it isn't so hard to port trem also?

Try asking on http://amigaworld.net, maby they will know sth. about it.

I use Plan 9, FreeBSD, Win2K, Ubuntu, Debian, ReactOS, and Mac OSX.
Not all daily, but I usually touch at least three different OSes or distros of them in a day.
Linux: ~/.tremulous/base/
Mac: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Tremulous/base/
Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous\base\

I use XUbuntu, and linux has better hardware support than windows, bar maybe wireless and ATI.
most stuff just works, and it doesn't have to install stuff every time a USB stick is plugged in, or for mice.
I see no reason to ever use windows again.
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

ok what i actually should have said is that i will be more likely to use linux when hardware vendors support it.

imo linux users (some) fixation with open source is whats holding it back from the mainstream, i really dont want everything to be open source, i just want it to work in a simple way, and preferably without compiling it first :]

PS. I use linux all the time at where other people set it up and maintain it.

m0wlwurf

I am a Archlinux user, because its lightweigth, and pacman absolutyl rocks everything.

Shadoglare

Yup, I'm on Ubuntu.

Game seems to work fine for me  :P

_Equilibrium_

windows for me. i am used to it.

hosler

Yep, Linux rocks. Anyone try Vista yet? It sucks, and most Windows users will agree with that fact.
