Sound like its coming along nicely, I'm glad.
Perhaps we could get a veteran mapper to do some touch-up work that PlagueBringer and Tycho don't feel like doing.

if someone would be nice enough to model a MALP (not in gtk), and then send it to me that would be very nice of them....

I was thinking I'd get someone familiar with camera portals to put in a vid. feed from the MALP to the control room, and someone who's familiar with elevators to get the two personelle elevators operational. and someone smart to put in some location tags

@Ace - as soon as you understand what everything does, it is really easy to work with. At first (I don't like to read manuals, it's easier to figure it out myself) I had no clue how to deselect :P, but after (maybe) a week, I had a nice looking room for a human base and the start of an alien "base" (two eggs) for a mission-esque map (humans found an egg and transported it to a research facility, suprisingly, the egg can still give "birth" new aliens. The aliens have to make a base starting with the overmind and overthrow the humans, the project died quickly).

atm I have a *alpha* of the SGC (not the offworld base). I believe it is playable, albeit a little plain. I'm going to give hummies and aliens solid starting bases and release it for playtesting and to see what the public thinks.

one single human could take out alien base in the freight elevator where I put them, I may have to add level 27 (briefing) to give the aliens a strong starting position :S

Nice map :).

For further map dev, the gate room doors should open sideways, there could be an elevator to connect the 2 levels, the gate could be dialed and would be open for 38 seconds, instead of the 38 minutes, and should be 1 way, then the side that dialed would have a 1 minute cooldown, this is reset once the other side dials.

The human base would be further back the base, but defences up front, the gate rooms windows could be closed down by a metal plate.

There could be some sort of intermission video when teams travel through the gate.

Hope this helped.

EDIT: I've got some stargate sounds that would go with the map, PM me for the file  :) .

You have a few texture overlap problems around doors. The doors to the alien base and one of the doors into the stargate thingamabob. There might be others too.

This map still needs a lot of work, it is very very ugly as of yet. My inclination would be to call this an alpha.

- give the map a name by entering a 'message' field into any worldspawn.
- include the textures with the map, especially if you're using textures from nonstandard maps.
- Try to avoid dead end hallways.

This map has lots of room for improvement, it has potential, but it needs more work.

Stargate is teh best show of all time.

Well, I dont know anything about mapping, but I can help beta test with my friends, and I have some suggestions.  Keep in mind, that I know nothing about mapping, so I dont know how this would work.

TEXTURES:
Well, this is a beta 1, so I have some ideas of how you could texture (what types) for the map.
First, the atcs metal textures woudl look good for the floor and everything around the base.
For/if the outdoors other world.  You should do the Asgard homeworld, that would be awesome.  Dunno what textures you should use, but if you do an outdoors world, you should talk to dasprid about the ancient remains textures he was using, and see if you can get permission to use those.  And for the stargate warter effect, you could just make it (the water effect) flow down, instead of radiate from the center, not enough people would know the differance.

MULTI-WORLD-STARGATE:

Well, prehaps at s1, it opens to one, s2 another, and s3 another.  Problem is that people might be stuck off world.  So I suggest that you either have it timed, 3 min at world one, 3 min off.  3 min at world 2, 3 min off, etc.  Or better yet, have the computers be "buttons" that when you push one, it goes to one world, then you cant push it for 3 min.  then you could push another one to go to a different world.  and if ppeople are off-world, they can push the dialer, and go back to earth (assuming no outgoing wormhole is active). OR you can just have 4 stargates per world (alot I know) and have each go to somewhere: earth, planet 2, planet 3, planet 4 etc.

LITTLE COMPLAINTS:

Well, for an untextured map, my fps is at 17, so I am scared when you texture it :P.  And also, the gateroom is a bit to long I think, make it a bit shorter if you can :-P.

Well, I hope you understand all this, my brain is kinda fried as of now, but this map is awesome, keep up the great work.

Woha, thats alot of text.  :D

Thanks for the comments, Niff. The only problem I have with making multiple gate destinations is the PARTICLE EFFECTS involved with establishing the event horison.

Establishing the wormhole would be the Kawoosh, yes. (I think that's how it's spelt)

Do you think you can you make it so it kills people during the "splash"?  That sounds kinda hard  :-?   But it would be so cool to be attacking a rant, dial the stargate, and then BAM!  No more rant :P.

EDIT: I saw your pic of the skinned stargate, when will you be doing your next release with that included?

But than....*sniff*.... it isn't a stargatemap anymore
Couldn't you just seal of the room with the stargate and allow the game to run on StargateCommand?? *sniff*Please??*sniff*
Like looking from the window in the Stargatecontrollcenter(somthing like that), so when hummies camp they can look at the stargate being activated. *sniff*Please??*sniff*

unless someone with a helluva lot of mapping experiance comes to this thread and says "Give me the .map for the SGC and the offworld alien base, I will make the gate be activated by a button and have particle effects and only go one way and everything" then there will be no gate (de)activation.

The Kawoosh, aka the Flush.
The Stargate like is the anti-toilet.
It spins around, then flushes, then you throw stuff into the clear waters.
And yes, men always forget to close the Iris when they are done.
