Intollerance on Tremulous Servers

Why are there so many Jew-haters/racists/biggots on Tremulous servers? Maybe more importantly, why do they feel they can get away with spouting anti-semetic/racist nonsense with impunity?

Do admins care about the kinds of messages people send on Tremulous servers? Does anyone?

Yeah people say all kinds of stupid stuff in-game, because they have no life, or are just idiots in real life, or because they can hide behind their supposed anonymity, or because they think they can get you worked up, and then beat you at Tremulous, thereby proving to themselves how superior they are to any person they percieve to be their "enemy". I don't read half the messages that appear. I look at teamchat from cool players. The rest I just don't even notice anymore. Maybe it's those years spent playing Tribes and UT.

Try not to notice, play some different servers, find some cool people. Don't let them know it bothers you. Then they will have nothing to hang their tiny hats on. Mostly, Tremulous players are the same mix of Quakesters that one would expect to find, especially in a free game on servers run by private individuals. I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying that if Tremulous is the only place these little Nazis have any power, it just shows how sad they really are. Care to name the server, and player(s)?

I don't believe you're a jew, but if you were called one it could be of various reasons. Maybe he's just "joking" about that he's angry because you killed him. Or he's really pissed and hates jews, and thinks your one too because you killed him and made him hate you.

You wouldn't get banned for saying you were called it, especially if you were smart enough to "/m OP> SUM1 CALLED ME A JEW!!!" or "/m SST+ SUM1 CALLED ME A JEW!!!". All bans are discussable on SST forums.

I've seen other case, though the first one is the most common and the second the most funny. Basically, I've seen people get worked up over silly insults for stupid reasons, then, after they were insulted, they yell they're jew, or black, or some other thing, and yell at racism, usually getting the other player banned or kicked.

many people that read these forums from time to time play tremulous, and most have a favorite server...yet the only ones who constantly plug their server into their posts are those from sst.

I'm admin on Dretch*Storm, SST, and (my own) Avalanche.  On any of those servers, I'll ban for any kind of racism pretty quickly.  Those servers (and others) each have a strict no-racism policy.  I know very little about other servers, but I would imagine they're (mostly) similar.

Sometimes admins do get confused and do the wrong thing, and sometimes you just get asshole admins.  But generally you can find plenty of places to play where racism is not tolerated.

Most of the Jew-haters on tremulous are from the Right wing part of America, the conservative anti-semetic part. It pisses me off, as i know several Jewish people and even a few Rabbis, and they seem to be much better people than most of the Right i have seen.
