Vote, Complain, Criticize, Flame, Swear, Post anything about the worst and best OS.

I'll start. Windoze sucks but I need it for school because the programs we use are for windoze and im also too lazy to find sound drivers for my other soundcard so I use windows for teamspeak.

Well, since it's a testimonial. I'll vote for Mac.

Mac sucks because it acts like the five billion 12 to 43 year-olds in its audience don't game. I bought a Mac "because it's so easy" & "I need it for work", only to realize how useless it is because so many games are written for Windows (& ported to Linux). Plus iChat is somehow useless for IRC. OK thx.

Surely deliberately and unashamedly starting a flame war is grounds for a ban.  Please?

Windows users are subhuman scum. You know who you are. You should all kill yourself for the benefit of the gene pool.

Macs, well... I don't care about you. Nobody cares about you. You have yet to learn that black polo necks and orange sunglasses make you look stupid. At least windows is significant enough for people to be bothered to write malware for it.

As for me, I use linux because I'm a smelly arrogant open source hippie. My OS is perfect because I ignore all of it's problems and have sex with penguins instead of trying to fix them.

Bite me.

Fuck you man.

I would like to make you know that of now Windows is the most popular operating system.

And as for Mac ,fuck you again, Linux is just a Mac rip off. Mac was there first.

OSX because, yah, its more awesome than any of j00 could comprehend!
Its simple, its effective, it doesnt leave brown smears wherever I go, and Mac computers run more games than any other (well, without pirate cracks, anyway). And yes, im not a imbecile - im refering to bootcamp.
Also, in the 8 years ive been using Macs, I havent contracted any cyber virus or disease. Not even one.

While OSX doesnt have a lot of software on it, a large amount of what is available is high quality.

Now, XP was actually a decent OS, alas, XP has lived its days, and crap like Vista is now entering (not many are buying it though  )
Ofcourse, one could stay with XP, and like a disobedient dog, refuse to downgrade to Vista, however, the fact is, XP is ageing quickly.
Even more so when you look at Leopard.

We all know why Vista sucks, so I wont go further, however, what is hailed as one of its main features, 'DX10', is actually proving a little bit shite. Sure, im sure some will cry "But...but...Crysis !". While Crysis does admittedly look somewhat better under DX10, it requires enough power to make pretty much every computer die a horrible, overheated death.

Pretty much every game, minus Crysis, at best looks marginally better than its DX9 counterpart. Just look at something like Lost Planet for a decent idea. As for the Company of Heroes DX10 expansion, its only really worth it for the extra sides and missions.
Ofcourse I realise developers are new to the software, and as such, we shouldnt expect right from the start constant games of Crysis video quality being pumped out, we should atleast see promise for the future - something I dont see with DX10. Heh - I even heard MS has a new OS coming in about 3 years (probably just speculation though).

Wait, im rambling far off the point.

Anyhow, what I was saying is that OSX provides a far more satisfying experience than XP does. Sure, while XP was a decent OS, that is pretty much all it was - decent. It was still a bloody chore to do anything other than game under it.
The only reason I would ever buy a copy of XP for a Mac is to run games.
...and the only reason XP has more games than OSX is due to amount of users, which was really a feat of luck on Microsofts side.
Besides, I heard programmers find OpenGL far better than DX (albeit this is only something I heard. Could be wrong)

So, uh, yeah...

Disclaimer: Normally I dont defend my OS so hard, but then again, this isnt a normal thread

Use Quicksilver in Mac OS X and you'll never be able to move to another OS again.

Of course.

Mac OS X isn't as tied to Apple hardware as most people think it is - it's bundled, not built-in or even mandatory.  I know a lot of people that run Windoze or Linux on their Mac boxes as primary OSes.

:granger: I don't get it, I like all the listed OS's and have also ran a few others like Solaris and OS/2, though I run GNU/Linux mainly... it all depends on what you're doing, I think... then again, I'm just a biologist, what do I know about these Internets machines?

Oh, by the way, quicksilver, launchy and katapult all do a good job at doing what I think their most important function is, CLI-like launching from a pretty-looking GUI window.

I voted Linux because it's my main desktop environment and it's what I actually choose to use when I can.

Windows: I need it to install games, but once they're installed I can copy the files over to Linux and run the games in Wine, they run better in Wine most of the time. I still need Windows to play F.E.A.R. Combat though, and after having the game running for over an hour my computer randomly restarts or gets a BSOD...because that's just what windows does.

Linux: Mmmm...terminal, I love my terminal and ever use cygwin in Windows because it's habit to use it and because I can do things faster from it. Nvidia makes great drivers for Linux and they rock as a company. All my hardware is supported without needing to install many things, just a tv-tuner app and nvidia drivers, I also tweak my audio settings and xorg on a fresh install. I like installing software with apt, it's my favourite package management system as long as I'm running 32-bit.

FreeBSD: Hardcore stability, I've set up a box just to have it sit there running a webserver for over a year and barely had anyone try to mess with it and those who did failed. Installing/upgrading software is a huge pain using the ports and pkg_add though, dependencies always get messed up and you need some version of a library that isn't in the ports yet...meh.

Plan 9 & Inferno: Mmm..sleek and great for low end systems, I like using them on old laptops.

ReactOS: I'd replace Windows with it if I didn't get the same amount of BSODs.

Mac: I've had my MacBook for over a year now, it's great, easy to add and remove programs, lots of features that windows laptops don't have. The downfall is that I got one with intel gfx as hardware, never get intel gfx!!!11 Back to the Mac OS though, it's a BSD so it's great, you can use apt and ports on it, compiling stuff is close to the same as on linux but if it's not for mac you need to tweak it a bit, X11 is a bit of a bitch when you need it. Applescripting is a pain in the ass and ugly so I just stick to shell scripts. Parallels runs fine and I can run windows only stuff in it with Direct X support. Other than Mac being ugly as all hell until you theme it, and the little bugs and glitches you run into if you use it enough, it's not that bad.

Don't use iChat though, it sucks balls. Adium X ftw.

Most of the games that I play seriously have Windows, Linux, and Mac ports because they're Unreal, id Software games, or some other company or OpenSource project's work that made the game for all. I don't play Valve games.

Windows Vista works fine on my friend's computer, but it does ask for conforrmation on every action. The user interface is also retarted, so Vista fails. XP is great. It's treating me fine. The only thing that's pissing me off is Internet Explorer 7, or 9, or whatever version I'm running, but since this isn't a browser war, let's not go there. Windows sucks only because:
    A. It signed a deal to let Macs bash it in their commercials.
    B. It hasn't sued Mac for illegally bashing them in their commercials.

Wait, who made Windows? Who made Macs? Isn't it Bill Gates?

Gay.

Linux clearly wins because it's not run by a man who has split personalities and can't decide which of his OS' he likes more.

Oh, and Bill Gates is Satan.
