I'm not sure how that responds to my post, but that is a bug that's fixed on most servers I frequent. You can't decon a hovel that's in-use in the patched version I play on.
I remember this bug though. I heard someone say exiting it took you to the zero-point of the map (the origin or co-ordinate with 0 for all of it's ordinates). On uncreation, for example, it would take you to the top of the tall cylinder in the middle.
that's definitely not true, i know many games would've been ended by a competent luci jumping had it not been for the well-placed hovel.
I find it funny how the hovel is important not because it hides grangers but because it acts as a free (1 use) barricade.

If you want to make the hovel more useful, how about making it a gateway to other hovels you've built (perhaps 1 hovel per player is buildable?). This though could easily unbalance the game and frustrate gamers. Just thinking of alternatives to keeping it or removing it.
