How about a one-dot-one-dot-niner release?
All 3 OSs: Win, Linux, Mac
client, backport, accepted patches
(fixed Mac sort-by-ping, brightness as a menu option, Options pane on Play page)
to generate interest in the much-anticipated (but somewhat belated?) one-dot-two release, and keep the community interested
current client/server incompatibility is only further splintering the "community", rendering the game frustratingly unplayable at some servers
a bundled semi-"official" release (as opposed to the current DIY state) would tend to keep the gameplay more central, with less time spent rebuilding the client (for those who don't really have the time, skills or inclination)
no add'l maps, no mods, no HUDs, no vote system, just basic, backported, lightly patched Tremulous (the as-of-six-months-ago version) in one download, for each of the Big Three Operating Systems, on the trem.net website
1.1.9, FTW!
