No server list/immediate crash after joining/ Port Forwarding
« on: December 24, 2007, 06:19:51 am »
I have been looking for a solution to this problem for a number of hours and this is my last resort. I'm on a Mac G4 PPC running 10.4.9 surpassing the min sys requirements. Basically I can't play any games online. What would happen is I'd try to join an internet game, and the server list would be all relatively high ping.. 200-300, and as soon as the map would load it would freeze right away after about 2 seconds of gameplay. This happened for Medal of Honor and Tremulous. I managed to fix the problem with MoH by setting up port forwarding in the router settings, but I can't find the port range of the servers that Tremulous uses. A broad test of the 20000 - 40000 range yielded the same results, so I'm not certain that's the issue.

What happens is very bizarre so I'll explain it in detail

The game loads fine, after selecting 'get new list' many servers load, but the ping is (generally) in the 200-300 range

If I hit 'get new list' again, or just refresh, no servers load.

If I join a game right away while they are displayed, everything loads correctly, but the server times out after a few seconds.

The software firewall is turned off. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

What do you mean by 'client'? I'm not trying to host a server or anything, just play the game online.

If you just tell us from where you downloaded Tremulous, that should be sufficient to answer these kind fellows' questions.

I downloaded it from Apple's website. Universal binary 1.1.0.
