Howdy.
Been a long time since I've posted here.
I took a break from tremulous for a while, playing once every few weeks, until I got home for winter break this year. So, lately, I've been playing a lot, catching up on the trem-doings.
One things I HAVE noticed is what's happened to my clan. I started Dretch Storm Pro, (DSPro), several months ago. I've been patient, taking things slow, but we've been around and things are going smooth.
What I noticed was reputation. For one thing, a lot more people seem to recognize the DSPro tag. The problem is it's not always positive. Now, often it is. Usually people are either a) glad to have me on their team, b) are indifferent, or c) don't know about DSPro, and thus don't care. But once or twice, I've been greeted with hostility, and I want to know what's up with that.
I'm talking about joining the _ms clan server one day, and getting verbally abused by two guys who had know idea who I was, but had a very negative view of DSPro.
What's the deal? What do people think about DSPro, and why? I've never heard of any problems caused by any of my clan members. As far as I know, we're all a helpful, fun bunch, and we're all good players. I think it's pretty ridiculous to kick somebody from a server just because they have a DSPro tag on, especially if they haven't done anything remotely disruptive.
Alright, that's the end of this post. Following up is just a list of members, and the DSPro FAQ I have listed on dretchstorm.com for people who don't know who we are. Most up to date members list and faq can be found at

DSPro FAQ
What's with the name? The name, Dretch Storm Pro, came about due to the fact that most of us play primarily on the Dretch Storm server. We're sort of a fan club. I firmly believe that the D*S admins are not corrupt, are dedicated, are fair, and do a great job of keeping the server fun and free of jerks. I also firmly believe that the D*S has an unusually high average skill level. The "Pro" part is simply because we have a high minimum skill level admittance standard. Everyone who bears the DSPro tag is a very good player.
So, like, do you guys run the server?Nope. We don't. Ghostshell runs the server, who is not in DSPro. A lot of us are admins on the server, however.
What services do you offer?I'm currently working on getting a DSPro website up. Other than that, we sometimes have a server which runs in the evenings, offered by Fallen-.
What kind of clan things do you guys do?Being a member of DSPro primarily lets you wield the DSPro tag. Reputation is hard to build. In the relatively small community of tremulous (compared to other gaming communities), it's a lot easier to join a well known clan than it is to make a name for yourself. That's the point of DSPro. Merely having the tag shows that you are are a valuable member of your team.
Do you have clan matches? Not yet. We may in the future. I started the clan with a promise not to put a burden on members. I would never have people "sign up" for matches, it would simply be who is available at the time. I would also never have scheduled practices or meetings. This is a video game, you should have fun, you play it on your free time; it shouldn't cut into other parts of your life.
I saw so-and-so with a DSPro tag teamkilling! Who do I tell? Please PM me on the dretchstorm.com website. We have a strict no-disturbing-the-game policy. If you have proof that the member was being disruptive, he will immediatly be booted from the clan.
Who can join?To be a member of DSPro, you need to satisfy 2 key requirements: You have to be a GOOD and FUN player, such that:
1) Your skill level has a significant positive impact on your team's chances of winning.
2) Your demeanor makes the game more fun to play for everyone around you.
So what does that mean? Well, the first one is easy. You need to be good. You should regularly be in the top 1-5 players. You can solo 2 goons with a pulse rifle. You can beat two chainsuits as a tyrant. But it's not just about having a lot of kills; it's about being smart. You know when to run, when to defend, when to protect your base, and how to play as a team-member. You know when to snipe buildings and when to tyrant suicide-rush. You understand that kill whoring and camping have their places in the strategy books. You know how to win the game!
The second one means you're helpful. If a noob asks how to buy guns, you explain it to him. If someone wants you to show him how to get to the human base, you lead the way. You are a kind, courteous, respectful player. You are somewhat talkative, you are NOT annoying.
How do I join?Find me or Fallen- in game. We are often on the dretch*storm server. We will spec you for at least 1 round on both human and alien to make sure that you satisfy the requirements. You must also hang around the D*S server for a while so we can get a feel for what kind of person you are. We will also be checking your stats via the D*S stats systems.
The following sections are more for members.Do I need to wear the tag?Yes. Take pride, you're in DSPro. Every so often, it's alright if you change computers or GUIDs or something, but you should usually have the tag on.
You don't have to use the same colors, but I ask that you do. It looks cooler on the player list.
The easiest way to put in the tag is the same way you do binds. Create a file in your tremulous/base folder called autoexec.cfg (NOT autogen.cfg) and put in the following line:
name ^1DS^3Pro^7|(rest of name)
for me, it's
name ^1DS^3Pro^7|^1Ja^7no^1ok
What are the rules once I'm a member? You will be immediately booted from the clan if anyone provides conclusive evidence of any of the following disruptive behavior in a standard game:
Teamkilling, team bleeding, bad glitch building, hacking, cheating, aimbotting, spamming, excessive verbal abuse, etc. In general, if you are disturbing the game, you are doing something wrong. You're job is to elevate the game, not bring it down.
Being under the influence isn't an excuse to be a jerk. If you shame DSPro, you are booted out, plain and simple.
