These stats only record instantaneous values right?

I played a little bit with the raw data Timbo sent. Not my profession at all but data analysis is always important to see how things going anyway..

I wanted to keep it simple, to see the big picture easily. This is the plot of tremulous players, according to Timbo's data:

And this is the plot of tremulous servers:

It is not hard to see how both number of the players and servers raising with a nice steep till around 08/2007. Then both become relatively flat lines.. This is normal I guess; it seems the second law of the thermodynamics kills us slowly..

Is that erroneous data in the middle of the servers plot or is it trying to tell me something?

Trying to tell you something.
Is that where there was a the 256 server cap?
And what date was r1ch's spam filtering.

Playercount is decreasing (Meaning: the first plot is a lie). Just have a look at the serverlist. One evening at primetime I counted ~100 players on all trem servers.

R1CH developed a server admin mod and did something bad with the master server ;-P

Hmmm, I'm assuming he had something to do with the decreasing player count. Last year there was like, 250 people playing Tremulous. Now its decreasing, whether we admit it or not, we need Tremulous v1.2 to come out, but we'll have to wait, we don't want the release to be a rushed piece of crap. Yea, the developers had 2 years to make it, but I like to see you make a new Tremulous with shit Q3 tools that even I.D. had trouble using.

Why does R1CH had to be a prick? Oh well, his intentions were good, and that what counts.

.......Right?  ::)

The stats should take into account only the servers that have players in them, not all of the empty servers lying around.

MA means moving average, it means that at position x you don't plot the original y value, but the average of all the y's in a small area around x. The 0.1 days is the width of the range that is considered. This is the 1D equivalent of a blur filter and can be used to smooth out short peaks in the curve to make the long-term trends more visible.

width of the range considered, so it's like the zigzagged line, but without the the zigzags?

Tremulous' player base peaked on September 22, 2007 with 5488 players.

According to: http://tremulous.net/graphs/server-snapshot.dat

Please, correct me if I am wrong.
