Synaptic problems.

I used the synaptic package manager to install tremulous, and now I can't seem to find any of the tremulous folders used to modify the HUD, or anything else. Also, when I log in to a server, it says my client is out of date. Is there anything I'm doing wrong, and how can I fix this?

Uninstall it from synaptic. Use the official installer. It installs to /usr/local/games/.

gynterk

Debian installs Trem to /usr/share/games/tremulous/. If you still can't find your trem do $>updatedb (as root) and then $>locate tremulous.

yes, but all thats there is a tremulous.exe file, no Base folder or any way to modify the hud. Also the official installer doesn't  work. It pops up a blank screen that says "Checking archive validity" which then disapears.  Nevermind. Found it in, unexpectedly, usr/share/games/tremulous/

Odin

Run the official installer from the commandline.

Run the official installer from the commandline.
Same thing happens.

Search in forums for GUID Client or TJW backport

What errors?
No errors, It just flashes a screen that says "Checking archive validity" and then stops.
Wait, also, while I was downloading, two files appeared on my desktop, but when it finished, one was gone.

Odin

No, I mean what errors occur from the commandline?

pharo212

same. exact. thing. A line of text saying: Checking Archive Validity:, and then the terminal disapears.

One was probably a temp/part file. Wouldn't worry about that.. what command exactly are you running.

Odin

Execute it with this:
sudo sh tremulous-1.1.0-installer.x86.run

sudo sh tremulous-1.1.0-installer.x86.run
I believe I've installed it just doing
sudo tremulous-1.1.0-installer.x86.run

But I would avoid using synaptic
