I install Tremulous, run it successfully and click "Get New List" in the "Internet" section of the list thingy. I select a server and hit "Join." My game then closes and displays this delightful little error:

So I click yes... This is the output of the error from my clipboard: http://pastebin.com/f1c1f2f1a (I would have put it in a little code box in my post but apparently it exceeds 20000 characters.)

Rocinante

WARNING: You are missing some files referenced by the server:
base/map-stamina-1.1.0.pk3
base/bresalpha1.pk3
base/betaserv-r1054.pk3
You might not be able to join the game
Go to the setting menu to turn on autodownload, or get the file elsewhere

That's where my guess goes.  Does this happen if you don't try joining BetaServ but try a "normal" server?

Uh... *feels dumb*

I'll get the files but my server list only has one server on it because of something irrelevant that I don't care to explain. I'll post again in the morning if I still have problems.

You have a protocol 70 client? If not then I don't know how you are connecting to Betaserv, if so then that's kind of important information.

Anyway, it looks like you have autodownload disabled, so try cl_allowDownload 1 and reconnect.
I get the feeling, though, that you're missing out a lot about what you are doing. Why do you not have a vms-1.1.0.pk3? Why do you have vms-1.1.1.pk3?

{data,vms}-1.1.1.pk3 are necessary for trem.tjw.org
The problem was that autodownload was disabled, which should have initially been obvious to me if I actually read the pastbin...
