Backport Lags
« on: June 05, 2008, 10:25:19 pm »
Hi all.
After a year or so, I decided to try out Tremulous again on my Fedora 9 box. All is well, but I do need TJW's backport, so I download it, rename the old tremulous.x86 to tremback.x86 and move the backport into the file. All is well, 'till an odd problem pops up: Tremulous is now so incredibly sluggish. I get ~10 fps, when I usually would get ~90 fps. I checked to see if it was a problem with my system, by running the backup and Urban Terror, and they are without lag issues. Glx Gears gets ~5500 fps. The only thing I changed was the backport, so logically, that is the problem. Anyone know why this would happen, and if possible, how I should fix it?

Specifications:
--
Graphics card:
Nvidia 8600 GT. Manufactured by Winfast. Using the akmod-nvidia driver found in the rpm.livna.org repository.

Motherboard:
Abit Fatal1ty F-90HD (May be wrong, hopefully my memory serves me well)

CPU:
Intel Pentium D 3.00GHz (Soon to be an Intel Core 2 Duo E660)
--
Also, if it helps, I'm using Oticz's HUD. (Did I spell that right?)

Let me know if any of you need more info.
Thanks.  :)

You know what? I think I posted this in the wrong section. It'd be nice if it could be moved. Sorry.

I don't know why it happens, but I had a similar issue on one system a while back. Recompiling fixed the issue.
You could try using a binary on http://trem-servers.com/index.php?page=downloads or compiling yourself using a patch at http://www.mercenariesguild.net/patches/index.php?do=details&task_id=2
