I just downloaded it, it is gud, but is not like FF2 D: the navigation bar is unusual, and the simplicity remember to me IE 7 -.- (excepting for the toolsbar)

Opera is not opensource is it ? Firefox is opensource, and IMO this is an advantage. I'm not talking about just being able to see the code, but the development model itself.

Yes, we see daily what open source development does to Tremulous. Have fun finding a server that does not run some decrepid derivant of Tremulous 1.1.0.

Oh yea, and OS=easier to find vulnerabilities.

When the whole world gets to see your code, you can sure as hell bet they will find things and exploit them. Especially when your code becomes quite popular.

That claim goes two ways: easier to find bugs, easier to fix bugs. If this were a disadvantage, then Mozilla- and WebKit/khtml-based browsers should have the most (known) vulnerabilities. Yet, Secunia and NVD data do not support that.

To quote Linus Torvalds, "Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow." ;D This only applies when users are the developers and when they system is updated quickly and properly though...so that doesn't fully apply to trem where developers are gone a lot of the time :P

If you think Opera is cooler because it's not as mainstream then good for you, that's the same reasons Macs are leetsauce! It's like they want to be OpenSource, but then they don't just to tick you off and not let you have too much fun.

My browser favourites:
Text - w3m
Very compliant (Webkit) - Epiphany, Midori
Fast and clean - Charon
Bulky but with extensions galore (w00t!) - FF3. I liked FireFox 2 better myself, but meh.

Actually, as opposed to most open-source people, who use an application just because it's open-source, I use the application which does the best job. And for browsing the Internet, Opera is the application.

i just saw that spreadfire site and scrolled around different countries. north korea had 0 downloads lol.

so, firefox 3 seems a bit faster than ff2. but when i need to check my email and grades online, i use opera 9.5 cus its just plain faster and the bookmark page is awesome. if i download something, i tend to use firefox.

You haxxed your speed dial ;-P

I use ff3 to watch youtube stuff and other flash related things that atm dont work with my opera.

For all my posting/browsing needs I use Opera.

I like them both. And compared to IE they are both god send.

FireFox has a speed dial extension, does pretty much the same thing as opera's, you can even dl the extension, modify it, and then install it.

And take up more ram.

Why should i have to go through the trouble of getting something to do something something else does?

You can buy a car from a junk yard, then get "extensions" to make it work like you want. Or you could go buy a prius.

With me, I don't like FireFox because the Gecko engine is pretty fail and I use tabs a lot, loads of tabs seem to suck with Firefox for me. I don't like Opera because it comes with junk I don't need, I have to tweak everything to how I want it the hard way since it doesn't just have extensions like Firefox does - and it's not open source.

Which is why neither of them are my main browser, right now Epiphany-webkit is since it's so light and it's open source so I compiled it with the latest webkit to be up to date, it's not a crummy Opera acid-test-passing-only-build where it looks way different than the normal browser just because it's the one that's up to date.

Have you heard about FireFari? Dunno what ever happened to it, but it was an attempt to put webkit under ff

Same here, Webkit is pretty sweet when it's actually implemented into a clean and light browser. Gecko can be an amazing engine on a light weight browser too, but right now webkit has most of the rendering bugs worked out that gecko has had a list of for a long time.
I'd like to see both Opera and Firefox be lighter and render everything perfectly, then I might actually use one of them for more than just testing how stuff looks in them :P

Prius truly is fail. If you're going to get an ugly car that happens to be a foreign made Toyota, make it a supra that's at least Mark III.
