Dretch Range [Beta 2]

This is my first map that I am releasing to the public!

Here's the backstory. I downloaded GtkRadiant, and started working on a map called Glassy (I may or not finish and release this in the future, it all depends, heh). I was a little sick and tired of that map, and it was also meant to be a serious map. It was my first map, and it was poorly planned out from the start, so the development was slow (i.e., I didn't know what caulking was when I started the map, so it was a pain to even start caulking).

So I started on a second, fun map. One with a unique premise. I released the first beta on the Unlimited BP server, and it was met with a good reception. It needed lots of updating, bug-fixing, etc. So I did just that.

And now I am proud to be releasing Dretch Range (beta 2) to the public!

Imagine a shotgun range for tremulous, but instead of clay pigeons, you have dretches. The dretches shoot out at you and you have to kill them, and score higher than your friends. A simple idea, but it can turn into lots of fun.

Known Bugs/Issues/Things That Need to Be Changed for Beta 3


-needs real lighting in almost every part, sorry about this, I was lazy
-lots of lightbleeding, even thought everything is caulked (can anyone help me with this)
-default spectator view is locked
-some textures are misaligned
-there is a weird lighting glitch by the bottom of the human building
-.pk3 needs to be done correctly
-need to add alien and human specific spectator views

I made the whole map, except for Raoni, who provided ideas the whole time and made the awesome rant-plaque model and found a way to get the goon model working in Tremulous (he imported it into Blender, got rid of all the animation states, and then exported a new .md3 and gave it to me).

Thanks to Brain and Face for mapping help along the way, too. =D

Your arena file says 'map "dretchrange-b1"' (should be b2). Also unless their afk what aliens are going to want to do this?

Afaik, lightbleeding has nothing to do with caulk. You need to split brushes between the rooms.

I'll fix it later, although I swear I did it correctly the first time. Also, it's mean as a fun map. Aliens do nothing. The only solution to allow no players to be bored as aliens is to fill that team with bots.

I tried it alone, so I suggest to use this map with aliens bots !
It's different than other map.

its great fun with bots, ;) although you should add teleporters for the alien and human spawns so that they don't camp. also, slick the walls in the cannons to prevent aliens from wallwalking.  oh, and an armory for buying stuff, unless there is one which i don't know about. :)  i enjoyed it, xD

I see the flying dretch only when the dretch is in front of me and fly in my base but isaw the dretch not far away. =(

I can't shoot something down when i don't see it.  :-\

It was my Tower Defence Mod. ^^
Only with this i can use the Bots.
And i don't want to change my Nero Crazy Server Side v 0.6b Version QVM. XD

why do the dretches die? Why not make it so the drenches are catapulted at the humans base (like they are now) but if the humans don't shoot them then the dretches make it into there base.  Maybe make a door that opens when humans are s3 and in there is a button that squishes the aliens base.  But if aliens evolve in mid air they can kill the humans base and win the game.

Could someone put this on MG? Thank you. The reason I want it up there is because the auto-download of this map for UnlimitedBP is broken unless it is on MG, as that is the map repository that the server uses.
