Thanks Bissig, everything looks cartoony here! In my next release I'll credit your work! :D

it is your opinion ;)

actually, it's something that is really hard to understand even after long years of studying graphic design and animation, and more than two years of doing those as a professional...

take a look at south park. it's hilariously efficient while it's visuals are far beyond zero. if it would have better visuals, it would drew attention from the subject, what is as rude just as much as it's honest.
umm yeah but it is not southpark. What you said is pretty irrelevant. The guy who made the comic wants to make it cartoon like (he tried to use celshading right?) So that is why I told him to use gimp oil paint. Are you trying to go off-topic or something?

use oil paint in gimp

NEVER!

if something wants to be funny, any failed effort on trying to bring it to a "higher" level of visuals would only distract the viewer.
that is the key of BLASTED.

this also means that "real" ingame visuals are almost too much to much for telling a story that is so much more simple than the actual game reference, yet can be much more funny.

I agree about the power of simple graphics in this case, but I wouldn't say screenshots from tremulous are too much. In my opinion it's ideal, as we're so used to the graphics already, there should be nothing distracting about it.

Also note that a simple style works best when it's consistent! Pick a graphical standard and stick with it. Changing the style draws attention to it (a tool which can be used cleverly, but is best reserved for special occasions).

Edit: Something I made while while back.

i said to stay with simplicity when i saw that there is some effect-overdose on the screenshots.
if it's unimportant for something to look different, it shouldn't be different.

anyway, there was no offense in anything i said :-S just advice.

Well, I got soem news. After some testing with the new cel-shading graphics, I'm afraid I'll have to drop that idea. When Cleoutline is on, theres some lines (epmty polygonal textures) that appear on the human's face, which is not what I like. I don't think this problem can be fixed because its a polygon problem, and the only way to fix it is to change the polys in the human model, which is what nobody wants to do. Sorry Bissig, it was a nice idea. But, I might like to use Bloom, its a nice feature to the game. :D

So far the photoshopped pics are nice, good work Jalaco (and others)!

Eh, you don't have to use the outline feature. Just turn it off by setting it to "0" again. Celshading does not depend on that feature.

Yea, but nothing looks cartoony even with cel-shading on, I dunno why. It looked normal to me wehn cel-shading was on. :P

Anyways, I'm having a hard time to get people to work for the comic, so I need ppl to pose for me! For the next release I'll need (minnumum) 3-(maximum) 6 people to help me, I need a server named "Newbie Training Arena" (In white lettering) with a player acting as admin to work in, and I need a photoshop-er to do some photo-editingfor me. I'll have to be really bossy to get people to pose the position I need and its probaly gonna be hard to get all I scenes I need (Yes, I got a script :P ) ,but you'll be credited for your work. :D

If you like to contribute for the next release, PM my mail box fourm thingy (Its the mail picture below my name) and tell me what would you like to help me on (either Photoshop editing, posing or providing the server and monitoring the server) for the comic and when I got everyone I need I'll send send a message to be on the server when you get it (You may wanna check a bunch of times, 'cause I might live in a different time zone).

I know its alot to ask for ffrom the community, but I hope I can grab a few people to help me. I'll be waiting for your replies!

If you'd like flatout celshading look try r_celshadalgo "1". That's the most comic look you'll get.

if it's going to be a comic then maybe filters->artistic->cartoon might be worth playing with.  :)

or you could ditch gimp, load the pic into inkscape and use path->trace bitmap->brightness cutoff. you'll get a similar effect to gimp's colour->threshold. it'll be less detailed and a bit rounded off, but it will have the advantage of being infinitely scalable if you ever wanted to make one of your comics into a poster or something.

Thats the thing. Right now I want to atleast make a few more comics before I get photoshop-ish, but yet again, I'm having a terrible time finding people to help me work on it. Noone seems to be PM'ing and especially noone on the servers wants to help. Oh well, today is friday. Another day to failure, another day for success, I'll try to get some help today. :D

How many people do you need?
Just run lots of clients...  (Set com_maxfps to like 5 or something...)
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

Doesn't that not actually free cpu cycles, just limit the frames displayed?

Everything runs at that frame rate, so it should free up CPU too.
Ram will be a bitch though.

It doesn't free up CPU, unless you are using a latest svn client (tremfusion & mgclient)

Suggestions:

- MUCH LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS TEXT
- Don't post the issues all in one post
- There are about 3, 4, 5.. different issues adressed in the latest comic strip. Split them up into their own strips. Condense. Less talk, more fun

Well, flame it or fame it, love it or shove it, Issue #2 is released, way behind schedule btw. :P

I wanted this one to be longer then the first, and it was, way too long. I found out that doing someting like this takes (lots) of time, dedication and paitence. Even if its not that good of a comic, I learned alot on how to make one and what it takes to do so, and best of all, through the fustration and panic, I had alot of fun doing it, and so did my friends ho helped me make it. I have to admit, the storyline and jokes are pretty bad, but I feel proud of my work. Hmm, maybe I should stop before I get too cocky. I guess I'll continue making the comic, maybe even find out how to get it into actual comic strips.

With suggestions like this:

I can improve, thats good for something. I guess I'll only post 2 comics every topic I make. I only hope I can inspire someone of making a even better comic then mine, I defenetly got my insperation from many web comics, maybe they'll get a kick out of mine. Well, enough talk, I'll take a short break for awhile, play and learn some more then I'll continue on it. The point of this comic was to enjoy Tremulous fanatics and maybe ge a chuckle or two. Well, it was fun, until next time Henners.

-Kurwa (polish)
-Aimbut (frenchies)
-NO U
-Asshat
-Dretchhat

EDIT: (ninja-add)

-Phais
-Phail
-Whf  (presumably "Wtf," but all the mexi's say it this way for some reason.)

Good work! I laughing too much ;D

Btw, it really need separated topic. And please put new line between each picture.

I'd like to suggest using popular Tremulous terms as well, such as:
