Flashlight and nightvision
« on: September 20, 2008, 11:46:49 am »
Hello
I like the game quite much but after playing 10 minutes in most maps my eyes start to hurt.
Either aliens or humans havent got a way to see in the dark and thats not good in a futuristic game like this
where there should be gadgets for all kind of stuff.

So my suggestion is that there is put a flashlight available to the humans and some kind of night vision for the aliens,
afterall this is war :).

I hope you understand tnx :)

Read the FAQ.
Its meant to be dark, and you can turn the brightness up if you really want to.
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

That depends on wether they, before posting their question/suggestion/rant, they at least browse these forums for any threads that have already touched the topic.

Adjust your brightness in the options menu.

over one million downloads, tremulous still sentences his new players to blindness by default ;-)

Hi yavor, i had the same problem when i frist started out, having a high gamma does help.
But if you find yourself still wanting a flashlight i might be able to help.
I included a vstr to switch r_lightmap on and off, in my Hud additionally you can just use the vstr Flashlight.cfg.
Hopefully this helps.I like playing tremulous dark, so i hope this helps out with your problem.

Set the right gamma and tremulous looks like doom 3.
There is no need to recode the renderer!

Personally I continue to agree with this sentiment. Yes "turn up r_gamma" or "use r_lightmap" are solutions but they (and particularly the later) are not ideal solutions at all.

this is completely true. even if the thread is complete bullshit. (not this one), it is letting the admin know what some serious issues are. and if a thread has been posted more than once or even several times, it is just letting the admins know that alot of people agree that there is a problem in that department.

A big bunch of players I know (including myself) have they gamma tweaked to a really high value.
This will solve your nightvision problems but will degrade your gameplay realism.
