Even if you ask for a screenshot of thier game, people can still use bots or people would feed one guy. Sorry tremvideos, but, this leaderboard cannot work. Unless you moderate the game, which you need to be a public figure in the forums to be respected while doing so, its going to be hard doing something like this.

Aside from the questional validity of any single person's submission, I find it interesting that these people seek bigger numbers rather than more challenging games. Maybe they would be better suited to an rpg game where killing the same dull baddy over and over will give them thier big number directly.

I'm level 208!

For those of you who just haven't realised it yet, the game is a great deal more fun if you don't give yourself an easy ride. Only if you challenge yourself regularly will you start to become any good at something. What you're doing right now is closer to an addiction than a skill, where previous 'numbers' don't cut it any more and you need even bigger 'numbers' to get your fix.

To improve your gameplay experience- and I mean enjoyment as much as skill -you could try:

• Learning to teamplay: Finding a clan and practicing together is the best method as public games rarely develop teamplay. When they do develop teamplay, it's probably because all the teamplayers are on one side which would be a case of imbalance.
• Embracing imbalance: When one team is severly stacked such that you wouldn't balance it by joining the other team. Join the team anyway. You might find the fun isn't always in the winning, it's in the overwhelming odds and the battle to counter them. Alternatively, you can give yourself a handicap like not evolving to those head-chomping aliens in s1, or using painsaws to cut up dretches and basilisks.
• Picking better foes: You might like to think you're the best, that's not a bad thing. Try finding people you know are closer to your 'level' (If you're a level 208 try fighting level 200-220). They are out there. You're not the only one to have put oh so many hours into this game. Find them and make them suffer!

There are a few more things that make a game fun, but not many as important as these. I know it can be fun to see your number outshine the rest on that endgame screen, but I also know that it feels a hell of a lot better when you truly challenged yourself. I recommend you start with the teamplay training as I personally find it the most rewarding.

a) They don't show how effective you were (kills/mins, kills/death)
b) They only show that you failed OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again to win the game, which means you either suck or you are too retarded to understand the game.

Wow Tremvideos, the last time I replied I thought that might be the end of this topic and hate, but no, the community has obviusly shown you the errors of your ways, but did you accept those errors? Just give up on this thread man, now I hate the idea of a leader board, this is something the devs have to do if this leaderboard is going to work.

But it isn't because Tremulous is a game where kills doesn't show your l33t, teamwork and co-operation is the key to vicory fo every game. Games like Quake is better off with a leader board because all you do is just kill, kill, kill.

Ha ha ha, I'd like to see you come on X server and win without getting more then 200 kills. Unless you completely avoid the aliens and don't shoot them, or you just suck at killing period. It most likely won't be possible. (Assuming you start off when the round starts)

And getting high kills doesn't mean you are too retarded to understand the game, it means you don't give a fuck about basekilling. Why the hell shouldn't I killwhore in a pub match, nothing is riding on the match. I'm not going to try and end it fast. I'll save that for clanmatches when winning actually means something.
