TSI: Tremulous Server Installer (for Mac OS X)

Started by Syntac, September 27, 2008, 03:59:41 AM

Syntac

For all you non-leet Mac users out there, here's a server installer. It's an interactive shell script. You choose your tremded and your QVM, and the installer does the rest.

Supported tremdeds:
* TJW's Tremded
* MG Tremded (1.0)
* TF Tremded (0.0.3)

Supported QVMs:
* Lakitu7's QVM (5.4)
* P-G-QVM (1.6.5)
* TJW's QVM

What about the tremfusion tremded? :'(

Other than that, great job :D I didn't get to try it yet, but I'm sure it's excellent.

Oddly enough, I can't seem to find your tremded. If you post up a link, I'll be happy to add it.

Amanieu

It's hidden deep inside the .dmg :P
Here's a direct link: http://www.tremfusion.net/releases/0.0.3/r2/Tremded.ub

Also, I noticed a bug when downloading p-g-qvm: You're saving the download to "game.qvm", but then you try to unzip "game.qvm.zip"

Done. And thanks for the bug report, I probably would never have caught that.

Is there a TSI for windows?

BTW, this sounds amazing. Its what the community always needed, but before I was thinking for someone to create a frontend *Winks at Syntac* for Tremulous then an installer. Still, gj.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to write a Windows shell script.

You want a server frontend? I tried that a few days ago. My miserable skills with Cocoa pretty much doomed the project from the start.

Well then, I guess I have no choice.

*Takes out a gun and shoots his head at point blank to the misery he gets when everytime he makes a dedicated server, it crashes*

But seriously, damn, at first it sounded like a pretty good idea to make a Tremulous frontend. Pick your QVM, Pick your Tremded, choose the options and settings you want Tremulous to run then click on the pretty "Launch" button. I'm thinking of making a topic asking for assistance on this idea, thanks for trying anyways Syntac. :P

Please tell me Cocoa you didn't really use actual cocoa to make a application. D:

Yea, I'm getting off-topic. Once again, good job releasing it Syntac! :D

Cocoa is what you use to make most kinds of Mac applications.

Actual cocoa tastes better, though. ;)

There are numerous projects floating around making installers.  SOON(tm)

That all the talk of learning how to make windows installers is pointless.  Better things to spend your time learning.
