SST Has Changed!
« on: October 14, 2008, 03:06:36 am »
SST is putting "You" back into control. Now, you can control the settings, and even the mods!

We've added these features:

Callvoteable 'Extreme' mode ~
With this, the settings will change to the style of the 'nuts' server. Settings will come effect nextmap, and will be enabled till they are callvoted off via /callvote normal

Callvoteable 'Domination' mode -

With this, you can play Domination on SST. You have the option of being in 2 different modes - Fast and Slow mode.

Callvoteable 'Freeplay' mode -

Using the /callvote freecredits - you will be given max credits each time you die till the end of the round, or the freecredits is toggled off.

Callvoteable 'morebps' -

You can now increase the amount of bps with a simple command

Multi OM/RC -
Multiple OM/RCs can now be spawned (enabled with Extreme)

Karma Patch -
With this, you are tracked each time you play for how much you contribute to your team. This can be viewed via !Listplayers.

This is an effort to make SST and Tremulous "fun" for everyone. This gives everyone the opportunity to get what they want. If you're unhappy, simply call a vote - majority wins.

Also - for anyone connecting to SST, you will be required to download 2 small PK3. This PK3 has the following:

* chat bubbles
* updated scoreboard
* handicap now works (on client set /handicap)
* slightly updated hud, the one with 'marked decon' indicators
* future easy addition of client supported devolve, or any other feature
that would need a client side change to work. (clients just re-download
an updated pk3).

You can download these PK3s here -
http://tremcentral.com/sst-domination/sst-dom-client-108.pk3
http://tremcentral.com/sst-domination/sst-dom-data-002.pk3

Thank you for making SST so great,
Meow11

Ohhhhh boy.
This will make the people who hate it hate it more, the people who love it love it more.
Also, high chance of killing part of your user-base with required downloads.
I thought you were selling?

But a good chance of creating a smaller, but really dedicated userbase.  See the kor tremx server :)

Nice job.  Do you guys plan on adding other mods?

Regardless, great idea

Domination mod has been removed. It appears to have killed more population then helped.

The voteable extreme will remain, along with most everything else.

Oh, so that's where everyone went... :'(

I think I'll go cause a buffer overflow on the master and quietly shunt X off the list.

The Letter Servers' modded gameplay offers a bit of a different excitement for Trem players, and is frequently the most populated server in the list. Although I'm not a huge fan of balance-altering mods in general, it's pretty cool until you get bad from lack of practice in vanilla Trem. My idea of a mod consists of making better commands and features for players and ops alike, IMO, but whatever; it's a diverse community, so I still frequent it.

X & A are a consequence of 1.2 taking too long to come out.

M is rarely played. It's a small server that was solely experimental; in the past couple months, it's been Sex's personal project to toy around with. For a while it ran the Ambush mod (waves of bot players, basically, that the other team has to survive); now I believe it's running a Human-versus-Human mod that Sex made. It hasn't been touched recently AFAIK, but Spec leaves it up so the few players who connect every day can have it.

Hello,
Nice things Confess. There is just one thing I don't like, it's the callvote Freecredits (A lot of people are too dumb to take something other than a tyrant or a luci...).
In Europa, we are a bit lucky with the differents server we have.
MjTavern / ATCS serverslolol : Loop ATCS, high slots, camp/feed/decon/bad admins/too much pro vs newbie
TremSpain / AmsterdamUnlimited : High slots, a lot of differents maps, original gameplay and qvm (the first have the p-g-qvm, the second one a lot of BPs and a screenboard where we can see the kills, but ssssh, it's a bug!), but the bother have unlaggued.
Clan servers : Low slots, often empty, nice people.

And in Australia? :)

irrelevant. There have been modded servers since the beginning. It is just a way of getting new players.
Even if they release 1.2, there will be a few modded tremulous 1.2 servers.

I think he meant that X and A are actually popular due to the lack of other innovations like 1.2's release; you're correct in that there will always be mods of varying extremes. X happens to be both very extreme, and very appealing to newbies. >.>
