Tired of the Aimbot Ban? I have a solution. (ProTrem Server)

Hello fellow tremulous players!
Before reading this, know that this will only be effective with Warrior's green light to go.

When I started tremulous, one of the first servers I went to was Skittles (Taste the Rainbow) and a few completely noob-servers that didn't last long. In 2 months, i was banned permanently from 2 servers for "Aimbot and wallhax"... I find this ridiculace, and have a new idea. A Pro-Server. While I am all for "Wrath newbie training center" or modded servers like X, A, and M, what has ever happened to good old pure tremulous? I find the idea of playing and not b****ing at each other for an "unfair" kill might be the best way to play tremulous. Now here's what I've come here today to talk about.
Are you ready?
Pro-Trem- the one server that has no bans without basis, not flooded with complete noobs, but there are a few things I need to know from you- the people.
I have not yet chosen an amount of Build Points.
I have not yet chosen for FF on or off. It will probably be On.

I dream of a server that has no mod, no admins abusing, no noobs (not trying to be mean to noobs though!), and no hacking.

Questions (read before you comment)!

A: People wont be given admin for kicks. People will only be given admin after it being established they are respectable. If you would like to be an admin, being a member on the forum would be a generally good idea.

A: THERE IS NO CATCH.

Q: soo like how do the noobs not get aloud in?
A: I might make it password protected, but probably not. If someone is obviously a noob/feeder/moron who doesn't know how to play, they will be kicked.

Q: r there gonna be like clans on this server?
A: If a clan like eVo, [EBSF], kiwi., [IS], and any other good clans can come. The server will NEVER BE EXCLUSIVELY FOR ONE CLAN.

As for the server info...


Time Limit: 45
Extreme Sudden Death: I don't know yet. We might not have it.
Sudden Death: 30 (or maybe 20, we will find out)
BP: Again, look above...
Max Players: Maybe 16, maybe 14. Its going to be an even number between 12-20.
Bots on server?: No.
Unlagged: Maybe
Max Ping: Anyone with a bad connect (300+) won't be aloud in. This might be raised.

If in TremSpain server we had to kick noobs, feeders, battlegrangers, blockers, insulters, spammers, deconners, teamchangers, bleeders, bad builders, campers or jetcampers we would need to keep kicking every 10 seconds... We got really good players but you can't avoid the noob virus in a big server.

The ONLY way to ensure a future for Tremulous and its players is to welcome the new, encourage them, teach them, assure them that we all sucked once, etc.
If you set up environments for "pro players only" you will find new players ignore you, become accustomed to other servers and settings, and leave you with only your diminishing core of increasingly bitter old-timers, who sooner or later will abandon the game entirely.

I like your sentiments regarding administration, modification, and player count, though. Are you going to disable share? If so you get a big hug, guaranteed.

Well one guy gets a lucky streak or he is just that better than the opposing team and you have not only one skilled tyrant but a whole fucking zerglingrush of them... share is no problem on a server that has a balanced lineup but if there is one guy who can killwhore at any given match it'll push the balance to his/her team more so than if share was off... - if he is the donating type... - this is the general point against sharing.

Technically I don't mind sharing on as usually it let's ppl work together nicer... but having it off would certainly stop people begging for free evos or spamming a begging bind... The only thing I am against actually is the autodonating system where any given extra creds or evos above the max would be donated to the team as it pulls every player towards better gear even if they did not earn it by skill or luck -> generally allowing a team with the more killwhoring players to gain the upper edge more so than with share on simply and even more so than the average skill of the team would allow it.

even with even teams share 1) favors aliens over humans because of the emphasis on one big mofo (humans on the other hand are better off with 3 shotguns than one chaingun, which will happen naturally without share) and 2) circumvents the intentional credit limit, encouraging both teams to camp and fill up on credits/frags rather than attack and try to end the game before sd.

I still think there is more of a need for newbservers than proservers (where the newbs are the clientele and not the operators, ideally). But I'm happy to see another server operator who takes their job seriously.

More 'Pro' servers are always welcome, since most servers are completely filled with brainless morons, or they are empty and have admins that keep on talking about how correct their server is. (First one to guess right gets a special treat!)
However, having both a timelimit and Sudden Death enabled strongly suggests this server is not that 'Pro' at all.

... to develop something that can forbid Aimbotters. Nothing else will change the failure Trem is going to be. Unless someone implements aimbot as an official game feature.

And, yes, the admin system created/ported by TJW changed (and ruined?) completely the intended gameplay. It is now a battle between pseudo-server-admins. Aliens and humans were forgotten.
At least, it would be necessary some extra changes to compensate the new system and rebalance the game.

Anyway, Tremulous should be considered as good as version 1.1.0 is, until developers officially decide to publish an updated version. Thinking on an open-source abandonware? Welcome to Tremulous, the game with tremulous developers!

Tip for newcomers: you need to find some very well hidden Internet addresses in order to have an updated Tremulous. If you want to make a server, you'll need to choose the newest version of one of the dozens of unofficial Trem modifications available. Good luck!

It's been awhile since I set any Tremserver settings, but I think it was something like Human BP=100, Alien BP=102, Human FF=On, Alien FF=Off, Structure FF Both=On.
