Normally, friendly fire has no effect but is it possible to change that?

I am sorry, but I don't really know what you are talking about.... I mean: I couldn't notice a negative effect as I shot at another human with a rifle (in Tremulous of course)
Is it a crime to be a noob in Tremulous?? You have been a noob either, some day....

I think calling you an "extreme noob" and mentioning google was because you didn't search, not because you are a newbie. If you had searched you would know that friendly fire settings are up to the server operator(s); shooting teammates is a bad thing to do regardless.

As for Elohir, Syntac, and St. Anger, their posts are completely worthless and they should be castigated for them.

That won't work, they already cut it off.

He es a noob since he just started to play the game and dont know the effect of FF.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Newbie (also said as nooby or newby) is a slang term for a newcomer to online gaming or an Internet activity.

...(Click here for read the complete definition)

The effect of friendly fire is

When on: when you shoot a teammate he will lose HP
When off: Your teammates Will not get any damange if you shoot/bite em.

This variable is controled by the server operator so if you arent the owner just dont worry and go to another server if you dont like the settings.

The friendly fire related CMDS:

g_friendlyfire 1/0  (Hurt teammates)
g_friendlybuildablefire 1/0 (Hurt your base)
g_friendlyFireMovementAttacks 1/0 (hurt teammates with the Dragoon Pounce)

I think thats all but the next time please remember to use the Search function

Shooting teammates is not a bad thing to do in every situation. Please try to not give advice when you are an "extreme n00b" to this game, Undeference.

Actually, Gil Galad would be a newbie, not a noob. In this particular case, Undeference is the noob.

Perhaps if you feel the need to say these sorts of things, and it's not because of a single person on the forums, that the problem isn't some perceived "Gestapo" but resides wholly within yourself.

No, it's because of some 'agent of the good cause' that might come in and defend Undeference, while he and I already had a nice chat on IRC about this actual post. I was merely trying to avoid some drama this time by adding this message, but now you will not let me, it seems.

All right, thanks to all, who wrote helpful answers to my question. :) Yes, I admit that I should have read the manual, searched the forum, whatever.... but this can be arduous, if English isn't your mother tongue as in my case - and so I tend to ask questions first and read the manual after... ;)

Although I won't bother restating what others have told you above, your question was a valid one, even though you probably should have searched the forums first. On behalf of Syntac and Ellohir, I apologize for our collective rudeness above; it is not befitting a community that strives to be helpful and build the player base with friendly forum posts. (*cough*)

Anyways, what is your native language? Many language families are represented here, and one of us is bound to be able to help you in your own language if not English... I'm actually quite proud of the fact that the community is so diverse and (usually) accepting.

Oh, there is no need to apologize, I was prepared for rudeness as I always am, if I am new and ask stupid questions... ;)
My mother tongue is German and I haven't found a German part of the forum yet - but I have to practise my English anyway... :)

Other way around for me. I'm a native estadounidense, but I've learned a good deal of Spanish from my time on the Letter Servers which is a very multilingual crew.

I couldn't tell you much in German, but there are plenty here who could. Perhaps we should make forums for Spanish and German like we have those almost unused subforums for Italian and French.... but personally I think people can get by.
