One of the things I liked about the 'old' Tremulous forums were how broad its sections were. I suppose you have made a good choice in expanding the topics into subtopics, but if you look at other forums which do similar things, you realize that subtopics frequently get ignored, unless heavily moderated (so that posts which belong in a subforum end up there). An example is any clan forum ever (which has more than the basic boards), which has several completely unused boards. Being a well-populated forum, the Tremulous forum will probably do fine with all these subtopics, but it's still annoying for the people that go down through the list of topics instead of just 'showing unread posts'.

TL;dr version:
Is too many subtopics a good thing?

the only forum with an extreme amount of subforums is mod release center, and that has posting disabled in it.

As Moosberry reminds us, several of the (new) boards and sub-forums don't have descriptions or crappy ones.

Can you guys try to come up with better ones? I will quickly put up the ones I feel best represent the point of each forum.

Poll with multiple options calculates percentages from the total amount of options chosen, not from how many ppl chose that option.

I don't see why they should be discriminated. You are discouraging all mods which attempt to fix the broken 1.1 balance. Also,

But mod section is way too complex. Balance changing/Non-balance changing? When I saw it first time I wanted to runaway. I'd rather make it:
Server side features/client fixes (qvms, backports anything like that)
Client side mods (Arcade mod like, shinytrem etc, everything that uses custom pk3's)
HUDS
Ideas

I think the balance changing/non-balance changing is a good way to split it up, but I think the naming is a bit weird. Gameplay Mods and Non-Gameplay Mods conveys the same thing, but in a bit more reasonable wording (and there's probably even better possible wording than that).

they aren't being discriminated, or discouraged. it's simply making it easier to find mods that don't (significantly) change 1.1 gameplay and mods that do.

i agree with bessig, it's a good idea(and invasion doesn't include a cgame ^^)
atm i don't know if invasion must be in "Non-Gameplay Changing" or "Gameplay Changing". it change the gameplay only for one round when someone callvote invasion and the vote passed, after the server back to normal gameplay. it's a gameplay addition (it can be never use if nobody callvote), so it's hard to know if it's "Gameplay Changing" or "Non-Gameplay Changing" :s  (i think the best place is "Gameplay Changing", but i prefer the bessig's idea :p)

btw, very nice theme ^^ and GJ for all :)

One thing I don't entirely like is the "Other Mapping Related Stuff (find appropriate synonym) " which sounds kind of unprofessional-ish.

I know many of you (and me) like to put the reason you edited a post in little text at the bottom, so I have added a seperate box where you can enter the "reason for edit" and it will be displayed at the bottom of the post. I encourage everyone to use it!

See? Sometimes it's hard to specify if mod should go to nongameplay changing, or not (but in this case I'd put Invasion in Gameplay changing since the mod itself changes gameplay hard).

i think that there are to many subforums its anoying. like other mapping stuff is useless the only thing that might go there is random dev shots but besides that it will be empty. and tremulous lore was a good subform but a whole form for writing is useless. my advice get rid of all the forums that have less then 2 post this month.
