Each server is different and can have it's on settings. The server you were on may have had low gravity.

it MAY have had low gravity?

well no
i would say its your computer
you should tear out some cords out of your computer, delete all your files from your harddrive and it might work after that

Sorry for the assumption if wrong, but I'm pretty sure your new. If not, correct me. :-X

If you were new, you probably went to the "X" Server, because you thought "Hey, I downloaded this game and theres a server with 25/etc people! I'm going to check it out!". In the server, they have a modification, known as a QVM (Quake Virtual Machine) file that changes the behavior in-game when modified to an extent, which you can play on the server without downloading anything (If there wasn't additional files required before you joined.)

The QVM used in the "X" Server has many modified changes to gameplay which veteran players calls "retarded changes", one of them which is flying grangers and basilisks. This could explain what happened. Either that or, you encountered a glitch or you lagged to an extent the PC had to load the game, showing you in the air before you were loaded onto the ground properly, or your PC is messed up.

You're right about that, I guess. But a little DoS-ing wouldn't hurt!

X has normal or near-normal gravity settings, although if I recall the humans now have the same jump height and wall-bouncing ability as marauders. >.>

He must have been on A, where advanced grangers and advanced basilisks can fly if you hold the jump button. I believe 90% of A's modifications are made by a different but equally insane developer as X; X's changes are mostly tremulous.h buffs and that leads me to believe the operator can't code to save his life.

X and A are on the same host.

Your point? It's possible to have different QVMs and settings on the same machine.

Yes, but it means they are run by the same people.

If I am not mistaken:

- "Sex" is in control of the A qvm mod
- X is either modified by X-Spectator himself (fiddling with tremulous.h) or/and is modified by Sex too

Uggh, let me clarify this since I have been a part of the Letter Servers community. A is based on a version of X from a few months ago but once the split was made has rapidly (d)evolved and diverged from the behavior of X, which aside from a few absurd changes like the marauder jump for humans has remained relatively stable. X was made almost solely by X-Spectator, who owns the (remote) box that all of the Letter Servers reside on (X, A, and M, as well as the oddball U and Z that pop up from time to time as experiments). Any changes made to A once it became its own server have been by Sex, the resident modder that delights in inventing extreme and extremely useless gameplay changes. (At the moment, it's more like a role playing game than a first-person shooter, with its level-ups and bank, etc.) I once had SSH access to said box, although I don't any longer; each instance of tremded has its own user, all running on the same server on a remote dedicated host. (It's not something that anyone can sit down at the keyboard and fiddle with, everything is done via SSH.) I'm an admin there, I hate A, I play on X once in a while for the fun of it, and I help keep their forums clean. I once tried offering my development services to Spex, but he's been a prick and ruined his already unpopular servers and didn't give me the credit I deserved, so I've since put my efforts into improving my own server instead of his. Let's leave it for the noobs to populate and get on with our lives, shall we? *sigh*

Yeah, maxflog.com is the domain name that he has registered to that IP. The Apache portion of the server was originally set aside for a little project of his of which I do not know the nature, but it makes for a convenient alternative to typing in the IP, I guess.
