Tremulous.net forums will be taken offline for a short period of time for some routine updates and maintenance, details are below

Time taken offline: 0600 May 16^th UTC
Duration: Approximately 1 Hour
Affected: All users will not be able to use the forums during this time

Honestly what makes you draw that conclusion?
SQL database shouldn't have to be shutdown for the game servers to be updated.
The only way i could see that conclusion is if the webmaster is stopping the daemons while he updates the main webpage and installs the new server software. That would also be a good time to do some updates and run a security audit but i rarely see people using downtime for that.

Really it means nothing.
all forums have to be taken down for some cleaning and updates.
cleaning out the temp files and installing security patches doesnt mean that a new client is coming out at all.

Again that wouldnt require downtime. You have got your hopes up and are jumping to conclusions

since thats just a directory it can be created and added to the server and function alongside the existing one.
then edit the A form of the domain to point to it. no offline time required.
How about finding a post saying thats the reason its being taken offline.
