If you pay same attention to 1.2, then it would be already done. Instead of that you creating nonsense websites/trackers/forums/map/qvm and making fools from good peoples around (bad too). ::) I am curious if you will delete all that bullshit threads from this forum. Search function can confuse many players in future.

…pretty terrible. Quick is not always good. While you may think the joke was pretty convincing after one day, spend a year on it and see if your perspective changes any.

But what about people who hate Microsoft for its closed source stupidity etc... For Darklegion to EVEN JOKE about joining forces with the Bane of Software is the worst idea ever... Not only were players confused as hell, but in my book it made Darklegion look like a sell out.... Open source/free games are hard to find, at least ones that are worth a damn.

As far as 1.2 I think they need to look more at the way most games get revamped totally when there is a newer version. From what the forums say is that 1.2 is just about as much a change as a qvm on a different Server. I have seen almost the same type of changes on X (The best server in the Trem Univers... Plug...Plug ) So for them to claim 1.2 is a new version is a joke as well... Just a long standing April Fools joke... As far as I am concerned a new version would include better rendering, a new style of alien along with the standards... Better maps, better humans, different weapons along with standards... ETC ETC ETC  ;D

But what do I know... I dont kiss anybodies... you know what.... Except of course my ranking server admins....

I haven't played Trem X in a while but... Can you name which changes in 1.2 are almost identical to tremx? Also I highly doubt they had any gameplay tests or used any statistics instead of just adding stuff.

It's because tremX and many other X's were copying the changes as they were made. "Main" changes like new turrets, dodge, improved lisks and so on are really old (turrets were first designed by TJW, nut sure about dodge, but I believe it's not a recent change). In planned development games we were playing basically same thing with different numbers, there weren't many bigbig changes (repeater change is relatively new for example).

What I'm trying to say is that many people now think that 1.2 Devs "ripped off" changes from X's while it was vice versa - many X's changes were primarily made by 1.2 Devs.

The only Dev that has posted any sort of news or progress reports on what they are doing on the forums is Norfenstein. All I've seen from the devs is an April Fools day joke that I would say took hours to set up and arrange. If they only spent each maybe 10 minutes (total of one hour which is a fraction of the time it took to set up the joke) I think that the community would be able to treat this joke as that, and not as an insult.

Is 10 minutes now and again too much to ask, or are the devs too high and mighty to deign spend a portion of the joke time to REALLY tell the rest of the players just what's happening.

EDIT: The Trem Devs might themselves be the fools to have done this joke before 1.2 was out. Perhaps after the front page of /. people might come looking at the game, download it, and what will they find? A game that's 4 years old without an official release since then. One in which the client doesn't have rudimentary player ident, or fast http download of maps etc. I don't know if you guys thought about that eh.

Perhaps they wanted to find how hard to work on it based on the size of the reaction to the fake sellout....? Perhaps, with the reassertion of the community's existence, they will redouble their efforts and present us with a release that is worthy of the title tremulous.....

it would have been slightly believable if they actually did any of the changes that Timbo listed. If they really did add a new class, i might have believed it.

>.> <.< ^.^ v.v Good joke.

To everyone, it was a good prank, it was clearly succesful, we know the devs havn't been developing the fastest humanly possible, as many of you have pointed out, but that's the thing... if they are taking this time on 1.2, how the hell is 1 or 2 days working on a prank going to make a difference? Answer: It really isn't. Lighten up, laugh, or at the very least don't go on complaining about it. Thanks.

actually, setting up a website is not all that time consuming, particularly if you stick with templates.  I set up a test wordpress environment, including plugins and security considerations in under an hour and could get it done even quicker if I cared to.  Once you've done it a few times its not exactly brain surgery.  But even if it is, I certainly am not going to go apeshit over some coders blowing off steam and having a bit of fun on the anniversary of D-Day.  Oh wait, this is April 1st?  Then its totally unacceptable! Ok, a bit snarky but I hope you see my point ;)

Seriously though, someone threatened to kill timbo over it!  While I wish that individual would have thought better than to threaten violence its still shows how successful the fooling was ;)

But from this day forward, no devs shall be allowed to observe holidays in deference to the work thats needed on tremulous! No xmas for you Khalsa! :Pand yes, I know ;)

Oh, and if you want news idle in IRC and look for messages from CIA, those are commits to trunk, which is whats going in.  Or you can just observe the dev chat.  You can also check
here which is news of what people have found and/or reported including any developer responses/work thats gone into it.  Also, stannum reports on his progress quite frequently and even has people reporting on his progress, not to mention easy to find news directly from him if you care to remember.

Hey, look, more news :)  Buildlog and revert being tested though not in trunk (which you could track by watching out for CIA in irc ;) )

Can we also remember that some of the tremulous main devs are ioquake devs too?  Shouldn't changes to ioquake be included into the considerations of how much is being done and when?

Granted the tremulous devs have a long way to go before they can start a 24hr news channel but there is a lot out there.  The devs just need to declare war on some small country to up their ratings!

Again, snarky, I know.  My mother is worse though ;)

/rant aimed at the idiots crying foul about the april fool joke, as well as for my own shits & giggles.

Stop with the teen indignation, please. The fact of the matter is you have no right to make demands about how people spend their free time. The devs can spend their time developing tremulous, making April fools jokes or masturbating to final fantasy screenshots, if they are so inclined, and you would still have nothing to say about it. If you can't accept that you are in for some pretty rude awakenings in life.

I think my way of stating it was more polite, though your way is more true :)
edit: your for you're
Ive been on IRC 3x and each of the three times I have asked why is 1.2 taking so long, and no one answers the question

I've been on irc a few times, this time its lasted - Uptime: 56d 20h 38m 7s
IRC is not instant messaging.  Its more closely related to forums, you connect and ask your question and then wait for a reply.  Sometimes you get a reply quickly, sometimes the person who knows the answer doesn't see it for a few days or misses is entirely and you may need to ask again.  Sometimes its better to ask who's the best person to ask and then highlight that person with your question.  See, the problem is that all the uppity developers are so rude as to have lives that doesn't coincide with my need for information! (thats sarcasm by the way >.>)  Of course, a specific question is much much more likely to get a response.  An ambiguous question like "What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?" will very potentially elicit no response or a joke response from those of us in the peanut gallery :D

It was too easy for me to say it was actually a joke. Why the fuck microsoft should buy a indie game without ANY commercial stuff. Microsoft wouldn't gain totaly anything from it, even if they would buy tremulous. Librelous, was a very huge piece of crap and I still don't understand what it was mean't to be... FAIL

Wow Haraldx, you are SO clever!  Look at you!  You figured out it was a joke all by yourself!  Congratulations!

Ever thought that because no one answers is because they are so tired of answering the same question over and over again?
