I think rotacak did not complain so much about the "lost" development time for 1.2, but about the prehistoric 1.1.0 client being still on the download page.

I didn't even realize they had that old client still on as the download. A client that could download the new maps automatically + a GUID would have done a lot to bring in more players and less ATCS only servers By now though I'm not sure it would make much of a difference.

Just curious though, will the final 1.2 client have the website download for maps automatically turned on + include a GUID?

I am curious if you will delete all that bullshit threads from this forum. Search function can confuse many players in future.

Fisherp and rotakak are both server operators and afaik have spent alot of time making qvms, setting up servers etc. Whilst they ARENT owed anything they probably feel frustrated that the game theyve spent so much time/money/effort on is slowly dying.

I own X and A servers  I personally spend over 150/month hosting them, so that explanation isnt going to fly.  

On the other hand, im not really much invested into 1.2 at all, i dont plan to put up a 1.2 server unless it develops a larger playerbase.

To be fair, there's been 15 news items in the last 12 months, 7 of which reference work on 1.2. while only 5 of those give any information about the progress of 1.2. Two of those 5 are regarding the gameplay changes. There is one informing us that MG have merged with truck (for the details see the svn). One refers to the auto-download feature showing up a prompt if cl_autoDownload is set to 0. The last is a report on a couple of preliminary alien models that I guess Stannum has been working on. I assume that there's more that's been done on 1.2 since the Community Spotlight last November.
