Oh man, Aquarius, you're going to have some real trouble when you travel the internet.
I do not mean to put you down in any way, but the fact is this:
The internet is not nice. The internet is flat-out ugly. Mean. Assholes, if you will.
As long as there is anonymity on the web, people will be mean, and snarky, and sarcastic, and whatever else tickles their bum at the moment.
Getting called names on the internet is the same as calling names on the internet. With the barrier of the internet between two people, words become almost meaningless. Now, this may not be true in more "real" interactions, such as social networking sites, but let's limit the scope to games.
Getting called names in video games/video game forums is part of the territory. If you have any illusion that this is not the case, FPS gaming is not the place for you.
In this particular case, he received a legitimate response from Kiwi and proceeded to insult him.
Now, asking a question because you're too lazy to use Google is bad etiquette. Insulting the few people nice enough to answer anyway is asking for a verbal beatdown.
People like him would be flamed, trolled, and probably banned in most forums that I know of.
Now, as per your stance on the usage of "faggot", I have two points to make. The first being: Si was obviously to be ignored. In fact, it was pretty obvious that he likely didn't even read the whole thread before posting. The second is, you make no differentiation between the use of "faggot" as a personal attack and the use of "faggot" as a general insult. Being gay and having gotten in a few scuffles over it in my time, I know how much it hurts to be called a "faggot" as a personal attack on your beliefs and your person. This was obviously not one of those cases. This was internet name-calling. Si had no way of knowing his sexual orientation to make such an attack in the first place, let alone the intention to seriously emotionally attack someone like that.
I think it's probably around time to either lock this or move it to Off-Topic now.
