so, my title mainly sais what i would like to ask.

how do i conver a .dm_69 --> anything like wmv or avi?
these are stupid suggestions, don't even waste our time.

lower the timescale and /record. your .avi will be huge. it's something like that, anyway.

something like /video while watching the demo? i don't quite remember. The resulting file will be unreasonably large, so you'll want a converter like http://handbrake.fr/

Run the demo, set Cl_aviFrameRate to 24, and then do /video to record it as an avi.
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

Its not possible to convert a .dm_69 file to another format, because by its nature it is not a video file.  Its just a big collection of data about what is happening in the game that gets rendered using the game itself. 

You can, however, work around it just like David mentioned.  while running the .dm_69 demo, use the /video command and an .avi will be created.

/record ... will produce a .dm_69 file

/video  ... will produce an .avi file that i assume is what you are after.
