Tremulous Life Story
« on: November 09, 2010, 02:14:10 am »
I rarely get on here, but for this I just had to post it. This is my entire life story playing Tremulous.

This is my life story in Tremulous. At the end of each section, I will list a bunch of cool people from that time period, and then clans I was in during that time period.

I started out on SST, for like one game. Then I left. I started playing on #BoomBoom#Virginia,USA even while it was out of date just because of the great friends I made there. Anyone who EVER played there knows what I mean :) I would say more about #BB#, but I can't remember that much, to tell the truth. I can remember one thing over everything else: =USA=JBOMB. He was my best friend for a while there. Cool people: Flattire, C Kretz, ZEL, Coffee, OblivionLost (leader of {OL}), CU|KIRBY, and MANY others. Clan(s): =USA=

I still miss that server.

When it started dying down I switched to SST, where I made many more friends, some from #BB# came with me. The old clan with most of my friends in it named Oblivion Lost, then the best clan in the game, has now left Tremulous for another game, and I miss them greatly. Recently I had the great luck of seeing {O##}Coffee on KoRX where we reminisced about the old days (## because I forget his real numbers).

SST was a whole new game to me. #BB# (R.I.P.) didn't have anywhere near as many noobs to murder violently. I stayed due to the many friends there and because #BB# was dying. I was known as a troublemaker, and yet many admins (who didn't hate me) were my friends. I was banned many times, but never for long. I had a secret weapon: my brother. He also was a regular on SST, and a popular one at that. Since when one of us got banned, the other would too, they would never ban me for long so he wouldn't have to stop playing there because of me. During that period, I also started playing on TremX occasionally.

That went on for a while, until they made a new admin command: !immunity. It was made specifically to get rid of me while keeping my brother. Before they banned me, an admin I won't name muted me, denybuilded me, and slapped me around Karith for 15 minutes. Then he permabanned me. While I still think that was abuse, and he should have gone straight to a permaban, I do realize that I deserved it. However, I was still immature back then. I moved from SST to another set of servers that I'm sure you all will know. Cool people: Will be listed later, so as to not put people in sections they weren't in. ;D Clan(s): =BAK=, <|LS|>

^5Letter. That's what I call those servers. X, M, L, Z, P, A, all of them are, or at least WERE ^5Letter servers (^5 = light blue, for you color-noobs). So yeah, I played on X to start, played there for a long time. I became great friends with Xpectator and a bunch of other admins. All of them were great friends of mine, some still are. Anyways, I stayed on the servers for a while. I pointed out the flaws, I still hate a lot of those flaws today. In retrospect, the servers were crap. Some of them still are. But Xpectator and Sex managed to make a community larger than most. However, SST's community was still much better. The ^5Letter community, while some of the people were cool guys (and gals), a majority of the community was made of frickin' retards. Also, the cool people were spread thin among the admin levels. Later on, only about half of the higher level admins actually deserved that admin, and I was demoted to the middle ranks for inactivity caused by Platform Racing 2. But anyways, that's not the important part. Occasionally, I would go to TremX to escape the noobage. Eventually, I trolololol'd on |KoR|Layouts, getting banned from all |KoR| server (including TremX). Because of that, I was stuck with the ^5Letter servers. I could be found in any of their servers, depending which was running the best mod at the time. Mostly, this ended with me playing on the ^5A server, especially when they ran my favorite non-KoRx and non-Nuts mod of all time: Ambush, which was run on the A server for a while. Another mod I loved that they ran on A was the original TremRPG which used !rollthedice and !buyhp to get you high HP aliens/humans. Best match ever there: >20000 HP dretch vs. >30000 HP sawsuit. I was the dretch. I lost. But anyways, after a bit over 6 months of those servers, I went to the SST forums, where I appealed my ban. Cool people: X-chill, XEyekey, Xpectator, Sex, The Makai, Veloci1992f, a torret, xConguitoX, WolfMaster, Gohan, and MANY MANY OTHERS!!! Clans: =[L]=, [BnK]

So I posted on the SST forums that, after 6 months, I thought I deserved a second chance. They agreed, with the addition that if I screwed up once they'd just permaban me again. I was cool with that. To make a long story short, I didn't screw up. After a long enough period of time, and after switching over to Nuts (same people played there as SST, but run by Khayman [then known as Mr. Peanut] instead of Confess/Meow and Paradox), I even managed to get L4 admin. Cool People: seeeker, Overdose, Khayman, IAmNotANewbie, Doc, Kirby, Luis, Lawlylicious, Gamee, Link, most other SST members/regulars. Clan(s): {SST}

Unfortunately, Bissig got captured by Russian Mafia (no, not really) and Nuts (and SST) died. After that, the {SST} clan was scattered. Most of us moved to KoRx (where I had to appeal another permaban), another large portion quit Trem forever, never to be seen again. Except if they were. But anyways, long time on KoRx, long time away from Tremulous on AssaultCube (fuck yeah!), and when I came back I'd lost a lot of skill and gotten a bit bored of KoRx. Eventually I drifted to AA, a vanilla server with a ton of older players (Einstein from =USA=, Flattire from {OL}, Denton from AoD [I think], and Yahoo, Yarou, and Dracone from a hell of a lot of clans). As it is, I don't play much anymore, due to homework and Skype, but on weekends I can be found playing AA, KoRx, GBA Clan Server on rare occasion, sometimes Z, etc. Cool People: If I say "hi [your name]" when I get on a server, you're a cool peoples. Clan(s): {SST} (still, even though it died); |GBA|, led by GLAMEOW and Bor., the two supreme dictators of |GBA|

Well, then I got banned from KoRx for trollolol'ing-ish. Again, my mouth got me into trouble. I stopped playing for a few days, deciding what to do. I was lost. My community was gone. I played on AA on very rare occasions. I didn't play on Z at all. And then I did the one thing that saved me: I opened up Tremulous GPP, the Game Play Preview of Tremulous 1.2. One of the first things I saw when I got on US1, the official US server for 1.2, was Rezyn, one of the old SST server admins, now a Tremulous developer. I decided to stay a while, and saw another old SST friend of mine, WarLock. So I kept playing, and I came back there the next day. At the time I wrote this, it was a month later or so, and I'd made a lot of friends, and joined the amazing clan Sir|. Cool People: If I say/said your name when I/you get/got on a server, either in a long list of names or individually, you're a cool peopleseses. Clan(s): {SST}; Sir|, made by Anonymoose and HeAdHunTeR

I became one of the good players on 1.2 (maybe I'm exaggerating a LITTLE bit…) and helped cofound .oP: (since then renamed to .7th'|) with a few other cool members. Everything was pretty steady for a while. I managed to get into GT (hhhhhh). And then stuff happened. I usually refer to it as…clan drama! Firstly, let me say this. "I didn't do it!" Secondly, I was not directly involved in most of this clan drama in any way, shape, or form. But since this is MY Tremulous Life Story, I won't go into all that. The only 'drama' I was involved in was the slow breakups of Sir| and .7th'|. I continued to wear those tags, though, for a currently undetermined period of time. Some of the important events that happened were WarLock and Pup Tentacle quitting and the awesome GPP clan tournament (GT came in 4th place!). Probably the worst thing that happened was US1 getting rid of semicolons, which drastically lowered the creative possibilities for smiley faces, namely two of my favorites: ;_; and ;D . Oh, also, marazap. Just look up "zap rush" on the forums. They made Mara's zap the most overpowered thing on the face of the granger. They then fixed it after many, MANY complaints. There also was a bot that somebody made for 1.2 that they used and got permanently banned for. It was fixed in under a day. Since then there has only been the normal drama, and otherwise everything has been just about normal. People come, people go. There are a lot of awesome people in 1.2, and I feel sorry for all you 1.1 players who don't join in on this awesome community (although the clan scene could still be better). I also recently reached a full 5 years playing Tremulous, so I'm probably in the top 90% longest playing players. Cool People: If I say/said your name when I/you get on a server, either in a long list of names or individually, you're a cool peopleseses. Also, if you are in GT or are a friend of mine, you are epic :) Clan(s): {SST}; Sir|; .7th'|, cofounded with Logitech and Taco/kiingnoob; GT, begun by a bunch of awesome people!

Well, that's my Tremulous Life Story, if anything new and big happens I will probably forget to update any posted versions, but I will likely update the hard copy.

Nope.

Actually, no. This has to do with Tremulous, so it's not really Off Topic.

spectator left the X community and created the W/T/F community, his servers are just as popular as X is, and he has added a LOT of content (achievements, better AI, etc) I'm not sure if sex is around anymore, i havent seen him in quite a while.  The others are, more or less, still around on X/A.

As far as SST, i tried to sort of 'ressurect' the server, or whatever it had become before it went away.  You can see how that turned out from the relevant post in the server section.  I did my best (offered permanent free hosting, creative control etc) but that confess321 guy is, more or less, a nutcase.

Oddly enough, I actually knew about the whole W/T/F thing...And BTW if you check, oddly enough I was the 5th member of the XserverX forums o0

A has only one person I MUST talk to again: vit. AKA a great friend of mine I haven't talked to in 6+ months.

Yeah, Meow was always a bit different in his way of running the server, but I wouldn't call him a nutcase...Bissig was the main problem with the server, since he disappeared and it died...

Hardly a nutcase....:) You didn't meet what I wanted in terms of a hosts, owner, etc.

And yes Menace, we did invent !immunity because of you. Giving you Admin was my idea - give someone power, they start to form a sense of respect for the law. Some psychology was planned with you, and I'd say it worked.
know that I myself cannot do anything, that I will fall, and that I am a sinful man, but I know that I can do ANYTHING through God Almighty, whom strengthens me.

Oh, I never knew that it was YOUR idea to give me admin O.O I always thought you would be the last one to want that, in order to ensure that the server stayed running smoothly; but I can't deny that it did work. Although there is also a distinct possibility that it was simply me maturing with age (from 10 years old to 15 years old).

Also, I added two more sections!

the date may be wrong, but that notation is definitely wrong. the international standard date and time notation has the YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss format. if you insist on writing the year, the month, and the day in a mixed order, use slashes or dots as separators. the usage of both dashes and mixed ordering is a mockery of the standard.

The best part is the part where people said "tl;dr, let's derail the thread".

Please stay on topic. For the most part it's intended as a serious thread.

By all means, compose a heart-breaking e-mail of this crime against humanity to the Tremulous forums' administrators, I couldn't care less.

I was just wondering why it shows the topic and it's replies as being created in the year 2010, and if it is broken for anyone else but me.

It's the administrator's fault as you can change your own date and time settings.

I can only assume the topic was created in 2010 and revived by Confess who seems to be reviving quite a few threads at the moment.

1,998 I think you'll find.
shucks.

111*6=666

i got confused when designating the significance of the numbers, i included 3 twice when it should only have been the once.  this demonstrates how i work when i make math on the fly and the source of a lot of my problems when i program something.

You pick a good answer then 'correct' the question? :)

The REAL question is what happened in 1998 and why didn't we get this warning sooner?!?

basically, only i tend to make it up as i go along.  the first few tests gave some very strange results on some of the variables i used in this little game i wrote a while back.  the last version still has these "quirts" especially in randomly generated NPC's stats and in the to-hit part of the combat system.  no, it's not an rpg, it's a (currently) text based sports management pet simulator.

i'm not too sure what happened in 1998.... but signs point to there having been some sort of cover up operation.
