Minor things
« on: December 05, 2010, 02:17:53 pm »
As I played in official servers, there was basenade. We had enough high-level admins to ban him (luckily), although the game was totally ruined. The game would have continued, but no one wasn't fast enough to revert the base destruction. So I am suggesting command /pause to be added, or if it exists, given to level 4 admins.

Also, if possible, there should be automatic console message (not cp message), that should tell that teams are not balanced. For example, aliens have 8 players, humans only 5. Then the message should appear for every 2-3 mins. May considered as annoying, but it should be noted some way of team balance at the moment.

Well, these are my small concerns now. Discussion please. :P

I agree with that too.

Plus maybe some script to detect a base nader,
a certain amount of damage or a script.
Or possibly a base tker in general.
It would detect attacks to the rc/om and how much he contributed to destroying it.
If he did a lot of it(psawing it, etc (not one grenade)) then a vote to kick/temporarily ban him occurs.

Hmm, i've encountered such automated measures before, i can't remember whether it was a 1.1 mod or an urban terror team damage thing, either way, not a pleasant experience to be auto-kicked for an honest accident.

After some discussion on irc we're probably going to do pause and imbalance warnings:
http://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4815
http://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4816

The so-far consensus on autokicks etc. for things is that they were terrible when other servers (akka) tried them, so we're not planning on doing so unless somebody successfully convinces us otherwise.

Awesome, there are enough high level admins on us1 however that an autokick feature isn't needed.  Pause would be great.

pause would be handy and so would /builder http://rezyn.mercenariesguild.net/aardvark/aardvark_1900_builder.patch for identifying those "older" glitchbuilds

i also think gpp buildlog and revert need improving i understand why you changed them like that for gpp but they really are a pain to use

/Builder is coming too. I just didn't mention it because it's not in this thread and it's not my patch.

http://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4806

Due for committing any minute now.

If no devs call objections I expect to have builder, pause, imbalance warnings, and the namelog fix (http://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4805) on the servers within the next several days.

Auto kicking base tkers isnt a good idea.  What if base is moved, and a psaw goes back to tk the old base before aliens get the  points for doing so?  What if a granger tells a dragoon to tk the forward egg because its about to be destroyd

Hmm I think auto kicking could work but seems more like as total pain to get working.

Really? I find that this new buildlog is fast enough to do without /pause (although there are some situations in which it would be useful). What exactly could possibly be done to make it easier to use?

the ability to filter by team also id love to see teamkilled structures to be shown as teamkilled afaik its shown as destroyed atm

and revert im only l3 so i haven't tried it but as i understand it it reverts EVERYTHING back to a certain buildlog id it cant really be used to quickly get rid of that glitchegg built 5mins ago(and im sure if someone tried to use it like that there would be alot of angry players as 5mins worth of buildables vanish) but like i said i do understand why it was done like this

The ability to filter by team first of all. Also, I'd love to see teamkilled structures to be shown as teamkilled. AFAIK its shown as destroyed at the moment.

Ah, both good points. However the player search is kinda nice too, even though I haven't really ever used it for something practical. What I don't understand is why you think this makes buildlog and revert is a pain to use. Also FTFY.

Yeah, dealing with deconners is the real purpose of revert.
