I need a better mouse...
Not necessarily.

True. All you need is for it to be comfortable and work.
I have to have my send at 36 to be able to turn 180 without lifting my mouse. That causes my accuracy to suck >.>
also, it's like huge.

And War just made me actually think that pro gear may actually be useful and not overhyped :o

I used to use a Logitech Trackman Wheel trackball mouse. It was the mouse of choice for my entire computing life of 17 or so years. I finally got tired of buying a new one every year due to a design flaw in the left click switch caused it to stop working after about a year or two of heavy use.

I then bought this, a Thermaltake E-Sports (traditional) laser mouse. Holy crap the learning curve was(and still is) steep when I switched away from the Logitech.

Of course, soon after I bought my new mouse, Logitech comes out with a brand new version of the Trackman with the design flaw corrected...

i don't know but it is pretty sensitive so i have to turn down the sensitivity to 17 to suit me from my old one (30) and cl_mouseaccel is 3.

You can play with the sensitivity way up there? :o Mine's at 2.5 right now.

You have to take into account the sensitivity set through your OS as well, so stating these numbers is really irrelevant.

Can you elaborate on this?

The difference between a trackball and a normal mouse is massive, so it's basically leaning to use a mouse from scratch.

I guess I assumed that the difference in movement would be an insignificant problem seeing as how you still have the same basic key layout. I've used that very same trackball mouse before and didn't have too many problems going back and forth. Never tried extensive gaming that way though.

You all with gaming mouse/keyboard, can you explain, why, why is it good. Sure it looks cool, but why is it so great.  I see no point to have keyboard that tracks the key pressed in 0.0009 seconds, and normal keyboard in 0.009 seconds.

The day you will drive a ferrari you will never wanna drive your chevy back. serioulsy i got about 10 different brand of mouse and, razer is the best (my opinion) and if you own with a 10 buck mouse .... good for you. what about starting a clan named someting like Cheap Mouse Clan :)

The Logitech was optical and had very low precision compared to a traditional laser mouse everyone else uses, but made up for this with MUCH finer control. Some movements people complain about being hard to execute were a piece of cake on my Trackman. Doing a 180 turn and aiming for the head was an absolute breeze.

The difference is that with the Trackman, movement is done via the thumb. With a traditional mouse, it's done with the wrist. Over the years I've gotten quite good at the former, but have had almost no experience with the latter(in gaming, anyway).

Why is it best. Why would i buy Ferrari, if i have working car? How the expencive mouse changes your gaming experience?

The working car doesn't do the 180 degrees turn before the dretch bites you in the neck.

I have a wireless Microsoft mouse.  Goes on batteries.

If you used a gaming mouse or keyboard, I think you'd understand.

For gaming mice, it's not about the input delay, it's tracking quality. With a gaming mouse, you can have a 360 in 5cm without losing the ability to track smoothly.
Using a non-gaming mouse requires you to either lower your sensitivity to the point where you can't check your angles or raise it to the point where you have to tripwire aim, which is slower than snap-track.
It also helps that I can shoot, jump, aim, heal, reload, secondary fire, and tertiary fire all with my mouse.

As for gaming keyboards, it's all about the anti-ghosting and the feedback. I have a G15, and the keypresses are solid. There's nice feedback, I know when each key is pressed, the keys don't giggle. It's overall a good typing experience.
As for the anti-ghosting aspect, I guess this is just more necessary for my control style, as it is rather odd. Before I got a gaming keyboard, I couldn't crouch-walk backwards and to the right while still holding shift to regain stamina. It sounds pretty specific, but it was annoying enough that I chose to use some disposable income on it.

I will admit, the gaming keyboard wasn't quite worth the cash, but the mouse is worth it all of the way.
