Mostly due to the rash of spam bots we've been getting recently I think it's probably the right time to get a bunch of community moderators to police the forums.

I guess I want about 5 people. If you fancy doing this then you need to have at least one person supporting you. You should also make a statement in this thread explaining why you think you'd make a good moderator.

e.g.:

Nomination: Timbo
Supported by: My arse
Why I think I should be moderator: I R LEET

I'll let this run as long as necessary and pick the folk I think are best suited at some future date.

I'd be happy to do it, assuming someone will support me.
I'm a student so I have plenty of spare time, and am on the forums every day.
I think I would be a fair moderator, the forum has been generally fine without moderators for a long time, and as such moderators would probably not have to do much other than deleting spam.

What would be the requirements to be a moderator (like being online on specific times etc...)?
Just curios.

I wouldn't mind doing it, but I doubt people are going to trust me yet. Which is fair enough. (I don't even have a sig ;) )

I'm just saying if you do trust me enough, I'll do it. :)
(Although probably in a "passive" way)

I would consider myself fair, responsible, and virtually impossible to provoke.
My general motto is "Don't hate anyone", and anyone includes DIGI_Byte, and Belier13. (Perhaps this makes me too passive)

I could want to be volunteer too, trying is free.
Just like david iam studying and have very low reaction times to stuff happening on the forum (while its not at night).
And i think David would be nice moderator, since he's replying kinda immedialy to me around the forum and i think he's fair moderator too.
About my experience, only forum i am mod on (these days) is forum of one game (dont know if i can spam with link of it, but i can tell it if u want to see it). Also, iam ircop on irc.italianvendetta.com and services admin of the same network

Moderating is hard work, remember that guys. Applying is not something that you should take lightly. You need to be willing to be on this forum constantly. You cant just accept the job, then not show up to administrate it. You need to be mature too...you're going to be stuck with some immature stuck up punks, but you need to keep your cool. The best staff rarely uses their power, unless absolutely necessary.
know that I myself cannot do anything, that I will fall, and that I am a sinful man, but I know that I can do ANYTHING through God Almighty, whom strengthens me.

I agree. I have not seen on this forum anything where a moderator would need to use powers, other than locking  / deleting spam bot accounts and posts.
And the occasional prodding of bellier13.

Nomination: [db@]Megabite
Supported by: I guess there are some who know and support me ;)
Why I think I should be moderator: I usually hang out on these forums on a dayly basis, am old enough to not misuse any powers granted to me and do moderate some other forums for a while, e.g. db@-clanforums as supermoderator (7800+ threads to date), tremulous.de forums and various others in the past.
I don't need the job to be happy but it would not strain me either, so I could help out if you want me to. ;)

Danny

P.S.: I would support DarkWolf if he wanted to apply for the job. He does a great job administrating db@ and tremulous.info servers, always trying to solve a problem before using brute force.

I would like to nominate Megabite as well. He's very active on the forums and I think he should be a Moderator of this forum because I know he would do a good job to keep it clean    I think David will also be a good Moderator so he has my vote also   And DIGI_BYTE too  :P  Although I don't know if he wants to do it...

I suspect that Megabite, Smokey, and Darkwolf would all do good jobs. As such, I'd throw my support behind any of them.

And because moderators are like cops (they work better in pair with a good guy and a bad guy) i would also support Lava Croft as the bad guy if he wanna apply  :P

Why I think I should be moderator: I know how to control myself and won't won't be doing crazy stuff around. I spend a lot of time in the forum, mostly reading pming newbies that ask silly stuff.

Why I think i should be mod: I love tremulous, and like to help the community as much as possible. I am a newsposter on the infobase, and run the sst server. I have had many past moderation and administration experiences, and run a few websites for clients. I am experienced with PhpBB. I also like the loose moderation style on websites, and try to moderate as little as possible, while still getting rid of spam, flames, etc.

I'd do it... but I sometimes go weeks without looking at forums I'm "active" on. So based on my (limited) experience on this forum and (somewhat greater) experience with the Tremulous community in general, I support Megabite, Basilisco, and Paradox.
Need help? Ask intelligently. Please share solutions you find.

I guess I have to do my say, my suggesting that MegaBite would do a fine job moderating these forums.

[EDIT] Paradox would be a fine moderator too, unless these forums get   SST-ified :)

I spent quite some time ( too much probably ) on the forum myself and I'm kinda of the low moderation type so you won't see me going on a moderation rampage :)

But if you need some help getting rid of spam and spam bots I can do that. I've already spend a few weeks deleting 5-6 spam posts per day on another BB so doing the same here will be easy, much less spam :)
