Script Kiddies vs Non Script Kiddies

I was playing trem a few days ago, when some guy came in and started killing things.  Then everyone started going off at him saying "hax4sure" and all the usual.

Which got me thinking (in one of my many random acts) of how script kiddies have effected the skill levels of non script kiddies.  The servers I play on (supposedly) have hackers aplenty.  But I don't really notice that.  Okay, so there's the odd "unnamed player" with ridiculously good aim, but other than that (hell, even then), the players are pretty even.  Well, except for those feeding blaster noobs.  They will never last as long as they use the blaster.

Is it just me, or have we just gotten used to hackers, and just adapted to them, so, while they have mediocre skills without hacking, we have skills roughly equal to them when they are hacking?

What does everyone else think?

I know we play on the same Australian servers.

i believe we do not have hackers at all, there are just people who cant accept the fact that they suck, accusing the good players of hacking.

I am the best trem player. Every one better than me just has a really crappy aimbot so it looks like they dont hack. but im onto them.

Maybe I don't play on the right servers, but it seems to me that potential aimbotters are far and few between.

First off, aim bots are hard to program.

The trig and network fixing alone is hard...

Plus the fact Tremulous is Quake, makes a lot of difference.

The only way other than modding the source itself is very laggy, so I doubt there are many "aim bots" out there.

And I agree with Pwnz a lot of people join "UnamedPlayer" just to kick booty and get called cheater :P it's fun :)

tremulous is EASY to hack
i know some hackers who write aimbots for Unreal and Quake engine games

and they just looked at trem and where like, peace of cake
there are hackers in trem, but the aimbots are smarter then normal aimbots, they dont have a 100% hit ratio, but lower.. probably settable between 0% and 100%

im an ex-hacker in numerous games (UT, AAO, Q3, CS, ET and more)
i know hackers when i see one, and im 90% of the times im actually ACUSING someone.. right

ppl who hacked with aimbots and what not, mostly recognise other hackers by there style, way of shooting, aiming etc.

its almost impossible to hit an advanced mara when someone who can control it takes its full advantage of dodging and still get hit 5+ times in a row with a mass driver

mostly when i see hackers, i mention to everyone that he's a hacker and i go find myself a different server

and NO im not hacking anymore, it got boring after a few days/weeks playin the games and decided to stop =)

EDIT: BinarySpike not if your a hacker, maybe for beginners or noobs =)

Good players shoot straight so they can hit the enemies.
Hackers shoot curvy so they can hit the enemies AROUND CORNERS.

it works!

BTW blast: There's heaps of hackers on GA. I have a folder full of people discussing their hax. I even have most of the common ones myself, so that as an admin I can recognize them better. :]

@Undeference: i never said i just used an aimbot once, just said i stopped using them (bout 1 or 2 years ago)

there is no skill/fun in using hax/aimbots to play, especially on games like tremulous, because end of the round stats are reset
i was just mentioning that if you used the same shit allot, you get a good eye on detecting others using extra stuff besides 'skills'

oh yah wait *brag brag brag* like im proud of that i used hacks/aimbots ... not rlly

maybe try and look beyond from what you know or what you think you know

I admit when I come across someone better than me, I jump to the conclusion they cheat.  I was killed with a md while a adv mara, 1v1 and I was dodging very well, First thought that jumped into my head was They were cheating(too much cs from old days).  So I decided to see how hard it was, So I fought a player i knew to be pretty good with a mara, and killed them with a md.  I am not saying there are not cheaters, But at least there keeping there shit private.  Unlike cs 1.6 where u can google for hacks and find them in 30secs.

not to only run around clicking ur mouse without having any skill to furfill the challenge

you can never find good hacks with google =) its better to find hack forums, get to know there... get hackwrites to add u to msn or other IM and be friends so u get the first versions befor they ever hit public ;p

and yea, its not easy to find tremulous hacks by google, mainly cuzz i cant even find tremulous MODS with google -.-

Try using google together with Brain v0.5 and you'll be surprised to see some MODS and HACKS alike ;)

Better when mods do smthing with this topics, where ppl only get tipps to cheat in trem.
Dont spend time on google, searching for hacks...practice, or just follow DJ_Pong and burn in hell.  :evil:

There are?? What do you consider a hack exactly? and what are these hacks you're talking about? I've never seen evidence of any hacks at all, unless you mean things like buy scripts or alternate HUDs, which IMO aren't hacks at all.
