@David: All of SatGNU is _not_ a discriminating bunch of racists. You saw how I react if I smell something like this, and if I smelled more of it I would remove my admin rights, delete the stats and never play there again either, which I don't. So please don't project one or two posts of one or two persons on an entire community.

Banning Poland is a move that I support, purely because of the attitude taken by 90% of the polish trem community towards servers and players in countries other than theirs. Of course, this is not a representation of every player in Poland; and maci, Lava and the rest of the Satgnu team have obviously realised this and offered for those players who aren't problems the ability to still play there.

If you look at it, Poland doesn't have many more greefers that any other country, its just that you know they are polish, and don't who else is polish.
You are punishing the majority for the actions of the few,  and by playing on your server I would be supporting this action, so this is not so much about what people post, and what the server does.

Well, I don't know how maci decided to ban the whole Poland, but most often such thing is done by banning a few large IP subnets which include all their ISP.

Now, the most probable reason to decide to ban a whole subnet is to look at your ban file, and notice a strange recurent pattern like that for example :

352.11.15.66
310.115.96.96
352.165.12.115
352.2.220.117
352.225.205.6
292.114.69.69
352.228.193.200
352.90.19.166

Now, once you reach 3-4 pages like that, you really feel like banning the whole 352.* subnet and then you find that you've banned a whole country

And you could be right about the percentage of grievers in Poland or other countries.

From personal experience I have to say that the biggest percentage of players that don't follow the server rules ARE polish.
That is NOT to say that all Polish are grievers. Rather that

- The servers concerned are in Europe
- The IX to other countries is worse than to Poland
- Poland gets only so many servers with a decent ping

Therefor the polish grievers are in the majority.

Also given the fact that to battle any swarming of grievers you'd need admins on the server 24/7 which is nigh impossible...
Further reason is their "colorful language" and their general unwillingness to speak any other language than their own (with noted exceptions)

What would you do David?

Would you let your regulars be exposed to vote-kicks, just because they adhere to the server-rule and speak English?

IMHO anyone can cry "nazism" and "racism", that is really easy.

I totally get what your are saying.
The other players on the server also have to be thought of, and if it were my server?  I don't know what I would do, but this would certainly be a tempting prospect.
I guess the answer is that there is no right answer.
Satngu has taken action ageist grievers, which is more than can be said for most servers, I just think this is a bit heavy handed, and a slippery slope.
I guess it comes down to what the players on the server think.
