female model - suggestions requested
« on: February 01, 2007, 11:09:37 pm »
hi,

i'm a blender user and i'm learning to make character models. i've got myself a copy of paul steed's book and i'm  thinking about doing a female marine. i'm planning to use pictures of real women's face as a reference for the head model and i could do with some suggestions.

obviously i'd like to base it on a good looking woman, but she'd need to look tough enough to be a credible marine. any suggestions? if you can also provide links to a front and side picture of her face that would be a massive help.

thanks.

Can't find a side shot but the movie should provide that if you need it (Alien: Resurrection (4)).

Scratch that, Ripley> Gi Jane

but at least give her decent hair like in the last alien movie, because in alien 3 she shaved it off while alien 1 and 2 had seventies style hair

since most head models start of bald and then have the hair added, it would make life a lot easier to use pictures of a shaven headed woman as a reference. the only other examples i can think of are demi moore as "gi jane" (such a weak movie) and natalie portman in v for vendetta(much better movie).

mmm, natalie.

Plus I cast a vote for a bow that can be used to pin large aliens against walls. :P

Females are faster but weaker
Males are the opposite
Now that I'm thinking,How would the females wear the battlesuit? It's just too heavy for them.

Looking at the size of the battlesuit no human would be able to use one. Think "power assisted armor suit"

For that specific question, the answer is obviously NO.

Let's simplify the question to "Do we need a female model in trem?" The answer to that question is "why not?" Considering the army of clones the humans are currently using, we sure could use a few new human models. So, why not a female one then?

Instead of moaning about IF we want a female player model in Tremulous, who don't you guys just create it, and then surprise TremDev with it. All this talking will not really bring us a female player model, it will only make us get tired of the subject.

the point of this thread is to decide who to base the female marine on, not if there should be a female marine.

Is it just me, or does ellen ripley look like a skinny man?

Still looks like a good choice though, I hate how every game's female characters have to have tiny waists and huge breasts. The developers must have stiffies the whole time they model characters e_e

this was a bad example. you are not born in the US, correct? so even if you think about it, it is impossible. but the original poster may have to ability to create the model.

Maybe you should go say that to some women.
Then post pics of the beating you get.

That is not what I meant. What I meant is that thinking of making a female player model is something totally different than actually making it.

I am well aware of that, but that does not make it impossible for me to become president. Laws can be changed.
Since the chances of this guy making a female players model are about as slim as mine are of becoming president of the USA, this example is perfect.
