Dude I don't want to steal your sadness or anything, but have you considered that guy was just trying out an aimbot on that particular game? I mean, just because someone cheats once in a while doesn't mean humanity has gone evil, right?

I read an article suggesting that surgeons who play online games are better at their job.
Considering surgeons have really steady hands and good coordination, I imagine the only thing preventing them from being aim bots is (possibly) tracking and reflexes, both of which can be honed.

Surgeons are aimbots. I think I went into the wrong line of work

Aimbot in CS is hilirious. Their crosshair twitches and when the enemy apprears, he just glances at the enemy and turns back, with the enemy dying with "HEADSHOT!"
it's freaking hilirious... wonder if that works with Tremulous :0

Why, you take a needle and a bit of thread and sew them to your tremulous.x86, of course.

cd /dir/with/source/code
patch -p0 < thepatchfile.patch

By the way, that patch only works with latest svn revisions, and uses functions that are only in the latest revisions so you can't play on 1.1 servers with a build from it. If you had some coding skills you could probably merge manually what works into an older revision without too much trouble. Its funny to see the helmet hack being just a one line of code commented out, lol.

It's a cgame patch so you can't play on pure servers with it anyway unless you circumvent pure checks.

From what I've seen its just a matter of passing a string with the checksums to the server that it expects to see, but I've not dug any further then that. Lets face it, this game is opensource, and its going to have hacks added to it, regardless of our conversations on the forums.

Thank goodness most people reading this are not C programmers. Unfortunately though, some of these things (like the helmet hack) are just so easy anyone can do them.

Well I am a C programmer but that doesn't mean I'll go check out the sources now to try and hack it. It's just poor if ppl do it IMO and they'll have to pay for such stuff, sooner or later, one way or another. Your karma knows you.

Due to the close combat and jumping aliens, aim bots are much more extreme in tremulous.

Of course we all know that having way more kills then your opponents shows that you are to retarded to understand the game.

Well, I was messing around with the code again today, and managed to spoof being a pure client even though I had custom cgame/game/ui qvm files. Was only like 6 lines of code I added to FS_LoadZipFile()

If you decide to try an aimbot while you are not a developer at all, you just deserve a ban. Because your objectives are either one of these : 1) To own people using an aimbot (lame) 2) To see if you can use this aimbot in the future (lame) 3) To annoy people with your hacks (lame).

Is there a need to highlight the numerous aimbot threads?  I don't think so.  Nothing new added, particularly that can't be added to one of the more recent threads, so lock :)

Not to mention that so many of these are pretty much necros
