New Tremulous icon?

I know what I am talking about, .ICO can't be partially transparent, each pixel must be 100% opacity , or 0% opacity.

I am not talking about .PNG or .GIF, those aren't icons those are images and they serve no purpose as they CANT be used as icons.

however since were on this topic, .PNG can be partially opacity so you can kind of see through, but kind of not, and .GIF can only be 100% opacity or 0% opacity like .ICO, and then last, .JPG+.BMP Cant be transparent at all.

The reason why when you scroll up to mine its a .PNG is because you cant show .ICO on basic forums, so thats why it includes a download link on my post.

for all the other program users, you can probably find a program to transform the basic image files into .iCOs

You don't realise how wrong you are. Annoyingly, on Windows, you can only use ico format which as you said can only be 100% transparent. However on O/Ses like linux and mac, you can use the png as an icon and this is what I've been designing for. Im still pretty sure that this icon will work fine as 100% transparent in windows, I just have to convert it. The only problem is that it wouldn't look as good.

not that i like these new icons much, but you can get translucent icons in windows, from xp, according to wikipedia.

I think Glunnator is right, there have been about 20 votes since other people started designing icons and more have gone to the default one.

Um, Im working on the split T. Does anyone suggest a font that I use for the alien and human sides? Im having trouble getting the right style. At the moment, im looking at these pics for inspiration for the alien side.

I was thinking of using the black stuff look with all the wirey/slimey look...
As for the human side, I thought of leaving it as the forum logo font.

Any ideas?

I think the T and bolt make the icon too busy. Perhaps, if you used a shorter/squatter/wider font for the T, that may help. Otherwise, try just doing either the T or the bolt. Doing fancy fonts for the T probably won't help it (although it may look cooler).

Actually, I'm just a pixel pusher. Being the pixel pusher that I am, my Armoury-based trem icon was bugging me. So I made a new image for the 16x16 size. Note the screenshot below.

Download, for those who actually liked it in the first place. Hopefully, this also appeases some of the complaints against it.

OMG...
Totally get rid of the "T".
1. Just take the same part of Alien HUD and from Human HUD the lightning bolt and from the right side the outer ring and flip horizontally:
2. put these 2 together like A/H not A|H and more smoothly, so it like fades from 1 to the other;
3. replace the wallwalking dots with most important alien icons (the ones you see on HUD and in scores): dretch, granger, dragoon and tyrant
4. from humans take the ckit, lasgun, luci and bsuit icons, place em around the h side outer ring.

Maybe make separate icons for both teams aswell.

EDIT: many of the links in this thread don't work, so if some1 has all the icons made, then could you put em together in 1 pack and upload? Thanks.

The Tremulous text on that wallpaper is definitely a good idea, but I doubt this would be seen easily even on dock with 128x128, definitely not on desktop/start menu icon (for Win XP at least).
