The painsaw is pretty lethal when used well, it's quite possible (I've done this a few times ) to duel Dragoons and win, as long as you can dodge the pounces and get in the behind them. Infinite ammunition and very high damage make it great for cutting through bases, too. The Lucifer Cannon, while it's not a favourite weapon, it's highly useful for close range combat and for giving supporting fire at longer ranges, although the chaingun usually is effective for this. If you're going for close range combat (or the occasional, very lucky sniper-range shot ) against smaller aliens, in my opinion the shotgun is the way to go.

Chaingun, for its versatility. It can take down bases if necessary (at close range). Large aliens are toast from the knockback and dretches are easy to deal with. It is viable both at close and long range - damage output in close quarters is insane but since it's hitscan with high rate of fire and (relatively) small spread it's still possible to chase.

At 400 credits, it's cheaper than pulse (effectively 500).

Probably the painsaw. Even though I rarely use it now I still can't help but appreciate how much enjoyment I got out of sawing the alien base when I was first getting started (it was basically the only thing I could do considering I used to play on dialup).

Large aliens are toast from the knockback.

For me, chainguns are by far easier to eliminate rather than the Pulse Rifle.  The Pulse Rifle's knockback, IMO is far greater and I can hardly ever kill a moderately experienced Pulse Rifle.  Maybe I just suck... but hey, I try.

If you know how to use the Pulse, you're untouchable.  Same with the Chaingun.

My favorite human weapon though is the MD, mainly because it requires a lot practice to get a hold of, and I appreciate its damage per round.  My second would be the shotgun.  Third being the lasgun and on down.  I only use those three weapons for 90 percent of my playing, the rest are for base elimination.

But seriously, it is awesome for scaring off aliens if you need to open a blockade.
No weapon unnerves the alies, or postpones their attempts at killing you than the flamer. (maybe except the lucifer cannon.)

For the instant stopping power there's nothing better than a well aimed shotgun, well, maybe half a dozen well aimed shotguns, you can easily hunt a tyrant with s2 humans that way.

md is for killwhoreing 
so shotty (one of the best in team attack, no tk high dmg) and chain (best if you can dodge, for the one who first in the assault) <3

I don't agree on the count of accurate, i find it forgivingly inaccurate, just blast it in the general direction of a dretch at distance and you'll more than likely hit it.

I'm not saying to hit dretches across transit, but if you have good aim, you kill dretches in 10 shots just about anywhere, and load a clip or 2 into mara/goon/rant.
