The ONLY way to ensure a future for Tremulous and its players is to welcome the new, encourage them, teach them, assure them that we all sucked once, etc.
If you set up environments for "pro players only" you will find new players ignore you, become accustomed to other servers and settings, and leave you with only your diminishing core of increasingly bitter old-timers, who sooner or later will abandon the game entirely.
I like your sentiments regarding administration, modification, and player count, though. Are you going to disable share? If so you get a big hug, guaranteed.
I pretty much have made a solution server, i guess your all american so you dont play aussie servers much but i own a server called auscrim.
We have good players play there, noobs and newbies are aloud but they must listen to good players and not ruin the game or there gone. We let players learn and ruin games on other servers, and when they get to the level of joining a clan they are most welcome (yes some players in clans are still crap) but because its dedicated to clans and scrims we, you are usually playing with other good players on your team.
Administration is like a dictatorship where the players who have proven themselfs and who are good admins are given refferee and adminstrator status, whilst clan leaders are given juinior admin status so they can get experience up. Any issues with admins go strait to me and i look up the entire incident in logs to find out what really happened.
We have some fun mods but there all command orrientated, not qvm and can be turned on or off depending on the players.
And share is on, i dont see why people hate it, share stops fail score whoring, promotes teamwork and helps to win games and stop feeding.
